Game still won't open on M1 Mac...
" worked for me too! | |
Moving from bin to application support/path of exile worked for me as well!
If you're not familiar with how to do this.. Open PoE. Let it crash and click move to trash. Open finder and press Cmd+Shift+G Paste "~/Library/Application Support/Path of Exile/" in the text box and press enter. Open your trash and drag the PoE app into that folder. Hold down option and right-click PoE (the one you just dragged into the folder, not the one in applications). While still holding down option left click on "Open" and accept the dialog. I reinstalled on Steam and it made it worse. There's no rhyme or reason to when it can/cannot connect and once it's connected it runs pretty amazing but then quitting leads to another ~20+ minutes of attempting to connect.

Thank you for the fix, the move to trash + drag & drop back fixed it for me as well.
That's like the third time that Mac version gets bricked by the update if memory serves, and each time the forum dwellers provide a 100% working solution :D Cheers and stay sane, exiles!
FYI the "is damaged & can't be opened" message is from Apple's Gatekeeper service & it means the OS doesn't think the app is legitimately signed or certified. It can happen sometimes for no good reason, but it can always be worked around by right-clicking the app & then clicking on Open; there is no need to move anything to the bin & back again unless you can't work out how to get to the app in the Finder.
This inability to ping login servers (apparently not even trying to), Templar/Duelist meshes/textures failing to load in, then attempted login leading to a blurry loading screen with missing letters in the hint text & subsequent crash is a separate issue & one which I cannot work out. Just have to keep relaunching the game until it decides to work. Edit: actually the crash appears to have been fixed; it's now just doing a "Failed to connect to instance" after the mangled loading screen. Edit: No, it's still crashing sometimes; "Termination Reason: Namespace SIGNAL, Code 6 Abort trap: 6" Last edited by capnhack on Aug 2, 2024, 5:32:43 AM

I fixed the steam version by go to
Settings->Privacy and Security->App Management->Steam and allow it to manage other apps. It will try to restart the steam and redownload the PoE again. Hope this helps.
