Map Management Resource

I'm struggling to get past lvl 66-69 maps because every time I start lvl 70 rare map (even chiseled) I got some low maps or no maps in return. This can't continue like this - it repels me from this game.

Not to say merciless act boss gives same or more rares than whole map. Atm maps seem like a semi-viable option for players bored with Dominus/Piety farm. That's assuming you have maps - what can be tricky.

There's far to much rng involved in map drops. Chiseling, chaosing and still not being able to sustain even lvl 70 maps is ridiculous.

I'm hoping GGG are looking into this and some solutions will come.

Are you sure you did NOT rerolled hard, but rewarding mods? From my own experience, 1 alchemy per map is enough for lvl70

No. I'm very hesitant to spend my Chaos so I do it only when I roll very hard mods on a map and I know I can have serious trouble with it. Monsters deal additional 90% damage as fire/cold/light damage + players are cursed with elemental weakness + players recover their life 50% slower is an example of a killer map I need to Chaos.

Otherwise I run everything from +40 bonus iqq what is very easy to get with Alchs.

Well, those mods can be rewarding....
I actually can manage any combination on lvl70 maps, except Blood Magic. Still, you should be able to sustain them. I dont know, maybe you were hit by unlucky streak. Try to buy some maps and start again. DONT CHISEL level 70 maps, NEVER!

40% is pretty low. I run with a minimum of 60% or higher.
I started not using Chisels and seem to see an increase of map drops. Dunno if RNG or RNG but i think Chisels are disrupting the maps loot table to drop other maps. Also i only use 1 Alch and run as it comes. been sustaining 75 76 77 maps ever since i started this.

I have several times looted 4-6 maps from a map with a 20-30% roll in quantity. On the other hand my personal record from a 100-120% map is not above 7 maps total.
Considering i have run maps in the hundreds,it seems unlikely to me that a flat increase in the quantity(%roll) of maps corresponds to the same flat chance increase of the map drop rate.

So, the increase from chisels is most likely small enough to not be noticed in the short term.

If you are still trying to keep this updated - I can only imagine how much work that has been with all the insane reworks - Some facts about the 1.0.3 Shock and Horror.

The attacks I've seen it using are:
- The beam(comparable to searing touch, only lightning), once fired, won't release, until you interrupt the line of sight. Pure lightning damage
- Summon 8 spawns, 2 at each of the 4 pools
- Resummon totems, back to 4, can summon multiple totems
- Melee attack

The totems use:
- Lightning warp, will drop lightning ground where they land(not from where they teleport)
- Lightning herald, though they seems to cast it all at the same time - it feels like this ability is activated by Shock and Horror itself.

Here's a vid if you want to study its movements yourself.
I am a nice guy.

I've made some runs (don't ask the exact number lol) with average 50~q alc-and-run maps, and then with rerolled-for-mods 70~q maps. Per map, sure you don't notice the difference. Over time? Yeah, it adds up and the difference is visible in your map pool, or in average time to next batch of maps bought, whichever metric you want to use.

Map mod frequency research similar to Kripp's, but made on 1.0.3.

Updated "map advisor" spreadsheet.

Thanks to Isky we've got 345 map rolls on version 1.0.3.
