The Self Found League
" Hold on, so what you're after is a solo RACE league? We've been having that. Many of the races we have now are solo. I've ran a few myself. If all you're after is to have solo races then make a suggestion asking for more solo races, perhaps have a constant solo league: have it run every month or so. When one ends, the next one starts. Many MMOs run PvP ladders this way. That's actually a pretty nice idea. I wouldn't go for it as I'd like my characters to stay around, but it sounds like something a lot of folks would enjoy. It needs to be it's own topic though. bah, I might start it myself. It makes a lot more sense than to have a permanent league that bans parties because....SCIENCE! What we're asking for is a PERMANENT league, though. We WANT it to be like the default league: a good number are even asking for default death penalties rather than HC ones (or to have both leagues so that no-trade HC would die into no-trade default). We want the partying and everything else. We just also want changes that would ruin Trade. That's why the two of us are classing. We're looking for different things. Both are viable: we can have a permanent no-trade league and solo races. There's a fraction of players who like consistency and predictability: killing boss X will yield item Y.
This game really isn't for people like that. This game is for people who'll do the same area over and again because they know..., a Mirror can drop anywhere, anytime. - CharanJaydemyr |

I think the number of people who would like to be allowed to party but still play self-found is higher than the number of people who want to play self-found and also play in races. I also think there's plenty of players who play self-found that are happy playing in a group expressly to make the game easier, especially under certain circumstances such as boss battles. I don't have any empirical evidence for this, but feel that it's true.
As for your argument in favor lower game difficulty for solo-only play, I can't find fault with it. I'm with Jaknet, however, in suggesting that you go over to the Permanent Solo League thread. --C |

Self-found league sounds like a good idea.
One thing that should be specific to the league is much much higher drop rate of GCPs, since it will become impossible to trade for quality gems. Without this, getting 20% of any gem will be nearly impossible, and some builds depend heavily upon it. |

I'm very much in favour of a 'self found' aka no trade league, it is, after all how I play in the default league. It would, however, as some have mentioned, need revision with regard to currency drops and/or crafting success/failure mechanics.

I think consensus is more drops, with an emphasis on currency.

-Self found
-Still can group up, maybe some kind of timer for loot to bind -Increased IIQ enough to actually be able to craft +1 My suggestion, 1 tab is a shared stash tab for the self league, the remaining tabs are private per character. Last edited by Sebulous#3009 on May 4, 2013, 2:00:27 AM

Hey lads,
I've read about 5-6 pages and now I have some thoughts about this Self-found league. Hope none has had any similar thoughts, so I won't bother you with a 'repost'. If that is the case I hope somebody would be kind enough to respond though :) 1: I see that this idea gets quite some support. In the first place it's nice this game gives the opportunity to even ask for such things: A player-requested/made-up league. What I'm scared off, as a hardcore-league player + trade system supporter, is what this league would do to the hardcore league. You all seem to be very dedicated to PoE and if you'd move to this Self-Found league I can already see the tumbleweed rolling thru the existing leagues. You'd have 1 set of very satisfied players and one set of players, who like the game as it is now, stuck in an empty league. 2: The lot of you want to be self-found. Is this to make it more challenging to you? You can be self-found in the regular leagues aswell. What's the issue there? Is it the fact that the drops are low? In my opinion it only seems low, because the players who do trade are getting much better gear than you are. So it might be just a matter of who you wish to compare yourself with. It just seems to me that it troubles you that the grinders/traders seems to be more efficient in acquiring the good stuff. I can understand alot of you don't have time to grind as much as they do, neither do I. I have found 1 exalted so far and the other bits and pieces I got weren't that pretty. I'm still enjoying it. In my opinion, trading is an essence of any community. There is a demand for something and somebody supplies. That's how it has always been, even traced back to the roots of humanity. If we were self-found as a species we'd probably not be here. If the current system seems to be inefficient for your playing style, you could also adapt your way of opperating. You work(grind) to get the cash, then you buy your groceries at the supermarket( the grinders ) and you do whatever you want. PoE has no benefitial system, so you got to work for your buck. This quote seems perfect for self-founders, but why can't this be achieved in a regular league? Happiness is not having what you want, it's wanting what you have In the end I hope you can get the league you are craving for. I'm just afraid that if the hardcore league runs dry because ppl go to self-found league, we'll pretty much have 2 self-found leagues ;p Cheers, L PM - Theyo

" Well, you can say the same about hardcore league. You probably know that hardcore wouldn't work this way. Same goes for self found league. |
|
" No, it's because--to us---trading ruins the game. The answer to your question is that the pacing on Default is not fast enough for self found. By remove trading, things like the "economy" can no longer be reasons not to increase the drop rate. Further, increasing the drop rate on self found will not cause the players in self found to progress against the content too fast. Rather; "just right". --C |

" That indeed is a valid point :P " I see, actually seems nice. I would try that on a not-permanent basis :D PM - Theyo
