[Retracted] WASD Movement

I already hinted at this the other similar thread, but this one seems a bit more aggressive, so I'll be, too. ;)

The important thing to consider before adding WASD-movement is that it will probably be more effective (simultaneous aiming and movement without hassle), and thus players will be forced to use WASD in PvP, regardless if they prefer it or not. Mouse controls brings in a requirement for swiftness/dexterity to a greater extent (think StarCraft).

Also, on a personal note, I prefer mouse controls. :)
I agree. In Diablo it gets annoying when you are trying to move to a location, but the mouse hits an enemy or picks up an item. Dividing the controls up would fix that.

So I take you are against forcing people to choose something... Yet you are ok with forcing of mouse-only controls... Figures

I didn't bother to read more than 4 first pages of this thread. Can someone englighten me, are all other pages the same:
People who can use both hands effectively (and ask for WASD) are called WoWFags by people who can't do well with both hands simultanously...

You have a point. I'm biased towards mouse controls because I feel ASDW+aiming makes it seem like a different type of game, like a twin-stick shooter almost. If "pure" mouse controls were the more effective of the two, I probably wouldn't care if both were implemented, since I could stick to my favorite one and still play optimally.

I guess the best solution would be to include ASDW+aiming controls and in PvP, let players create leagues where only one control scheme is allowed. That would keep it fair, and noone would be forced to pick a control scheme they don't like to be able to play optimally.
wasd+aiming support as an option would be awesome.
Personally I think including it as an option in the PvP leagues made by players would prevent any major differences in player skill regarding the control scheme. WASD+mouse as a normal option during gameplay would be great.
I just got into the Beta, and I must say, no WASD movement is a complete dealbreaker for me personally, the same reason myself and my friends don't play LoL.

The simple fact is, some people strongly prefer mouse movement, and some people strongly prefer keyboard, and there is no good reason not to have an option for both in PoE!

My personal reasons to oppose it (I know, I've said these before in this thread):

1. Aesthetics. Eight directions is not enough to look good on this game. It was enough for the first Diablo, but now? There's no way to hide the fact that your character has a superstition against walking in certain directions if you're using keyboard movement in a game like this.

2. PvP balancing. Obviously, keyboard movement is different from mouse movement - otherwise you wouldn't be asking for it. What this means, though, is that its use in PvP may well end up a situational necessity for optimum play (kiting in particular comes to mind), forcing players to learn both styles.

3. Hotkey overlap. There's a fair amount of keyboard space already devoted to skills, flasks, and menus - the intuitive spots for the left hand are already taken up by these, and not coincidentally. Where would you put your four movement keys?
I have wandered through insanity;
I have walked the spiral out.
Heard its twisted dreamed inanity
In a whisper, in a shout.
In the babbling cacophony
The refrains are all the same:
"[permutations of humanity]
are unworthy of the name!"
Actualy WASD would be much better since you wouldnt gave to take the cursor off the target to run away and many other things like use the mouse to consume potions or whatever while moving.
I'd love WASD because i'm really bad at running away accidentally when I mean to highlight something instead.

The game looks like Champions of Norrath to me, so I think it would be really cool if they supported game pads (do they make ps2-type pc gamepads?)
