[Retracted] WASD Movement

"
Spiral Knights and Bloodline Champions shows how you can do this with WASD AND Mouse, but how this would work in this game I don't know since I haven't played it.

This only works because you can attack while moving in those games.

Hi, i would like to be able of use the Arrow Keys to move even i've to renounce to the map, because it'll be easyer for me to walk arround the map; for fight i'll had to have one hand on the skills/potions keys and the other on the mouse to attack/move. But just for move arround the map... the Arrow Keys will be much easyer/better for me than hold down the LMB all the time. Let's C ya
Punk's Not Dead = Semper Fi.

That should not be much of a problem here. In fact, since the walking and attack/cast/etc animations seen to be separated, should not matter if you were moving due to a click or from keyboard. Attacking will be disabled until movement ends.
Many thanks to fantazmat for the beta key!
mouse movement is just fine for this type of game

i'd much rather GGG spend their time on things that will get the game into open beta and/or finished so people can start playing

Is just fine no doubt... for you and many others.
The problem is, not so for a good portion of the player base. As i said before this is not just a quality of life feature but one that is highly desirable for some and game breaking for others unless present.
Since GGG proved over and over that they care and listen to the player base i have good faith that they will give attenttion to what is the most requested feature so far, with no downsides but the effort needed to implement it.
Many thanks to fantazmat for the beta key!
There will never be WASD movement in PoE, Chris just explained why in the most recent interview. This topic can stop now.

Is there a link to the interview (Dev Diary?) new here.

First time playing last night and I was actually continuously trying to move with WASD even after knowing full well it isnt implemented, it actually FELT natural like it should be there.

I played a lot of Guild Wars and that game has the same combat mechanics as this, you cant attack while moving, so you can WASD navigate the map and you still have to target with the mouse (or you could use TAB to target things or other shortcuts that would target the nearest enemy C+Space) And it really feels so natural in these types of games.

Just my 2 cents, I'll probably be trying to WASD move a lot even after playing for quite a while
WASD will never get old, because it is best way to move in any game. But it make real difference only for game speed restriction.
Like if you have 1 mob shooting towards you and you sure, that you know that 90% of space will be "safe spot" then you need X time to get safe and when you dodged you can shot at mob. That is "Shoot or run" system.
Now imagine 10 mobs shooting 1 after another... you will be dodging forever - no time to shot back.
WASD could provide you with "Shoot and run" system. Dodge and shoot back = win.
But this would be another game type called - Slasher.
WASD - is in our hearts, but it's not for PoE.
My opinion in short: No
In full: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

The controls are fine as they are.
WASD control scheme will add more animation work. Since you need to separate upper body and legs (so ranger could run in one direction and shoot in the other)
And that's just from the top of my head. I'm pretty sure there are much more problems than meets the eye.
I really like WASD, but understand that it might not be viable for a game like this. I did like Bastion's movement system though.
