(28th April) Hardcore Cut-throat Event!

Hi,

i think HC and PVP don´t work on long term. The most pepps give up. Make a normal PVP league, add pvp items wich dropes off killed players, add skill gems to the merchant (skill gems that all chars get from questslines). Implement a lvl restriction +-5 for invading. Reduce Dam, increase resis for longer pvp fights. Short look at Demon Souls / Dark Souls.

Luck is in these short events absolutely necessary at the moment. I had no luck yesterday.

Maybe it needs a kind of switch between char preparation (without invaders) to level and gear up - and the open instances 'later' for pvp fighting...?

Idea: thrown away for unsolved problems ^^

better(?) idea: split preparation and open instances into different leagues - or, simpliest(?): set a limit (by level - maybe 5 or 10 - or area - maybe passage, gate or cavern.
"Rule suggestions": killed chars with level =<yours-2 dont count, =<yours-5 only loose inventory, not equip

"Others": Kill count must be visible in the ladder!

@notsorry - Wow can't beleieve you actually killed one of our party members. Now I know not to have you in my cutthroat party. We would have been able to catch imdisappoint and fight for 1st place.

My plan was to build a cleave/shield charge based marauder, do the dweller in the deep q, farm ledge a bit and get to lvl 6 or more, before starting PvP if I wasn't attacked first.

In practice I was first attacked on my way to passage 2 (2 marauders my level I died) after that pretty much ever instant I created was invaded, I usually just kept on until there X showed on the screen then tried to pick my ground and fight (if they found me before Id finished with the area). As with last week I died but not as often and usually came closer to nailing my opponents.

High lvl ganking seemed less of an issue this week. Last week a death meant running straight into the teeth of campers and it became more difficult to progress after the deaths started mounting up not so this week, which made it feel less grindy.

I was more inclined to treat my chars as disposable this week making for a more aggressive play style, the players I faced were also usually approx my lvl and the PvP felt fairer for it Imo.
If the league had been longer I believe there would have been alot more low lvl hunting going on probable making it unrealistic to start a new char after the 75-90 min point.
The gear that became available at lvl 6 made a significant difference creating a barried to who I felt I could realistically take on.

It would be nice to have the notice's of invasion stand out more (maybe a different colour from chat?) and the standard message replaced with another if the entering char/s are significantly higher than you, this I feel would make it more likely people would leave an instant there over matched in and stay if they feel they have a realistic chance, inclining higher lvls to pick on char's there own size hopefully.

Overall good I really enjoyed this week's league :)

Haha, guess you didnt see what I wrote. I would probably party with him but you have to keep your wits about you during cut-throat =P. Though since my character name was "NotSorry" I thought it would be too tempting to let him party me.

Just got a crazy idea:
make a hardcore cut-throat league where you die if you haven't killed anyone for each 10 minutes of the race.
If nobody killed another player for 10 minutes, the game closes areas if at least 2 players are in it and only lets one of them out if one of them disconnects (and therefore is out) or one of them die!

That should make the events a lot faster and a lot more action packed! :=)

Got the idea from chemistry: put two compounds in a beaker and apply heat! ;-P
