Lots of programmers use Mac OSX because of its UNIX background. It may be easy to use up front for the average person but for advanced users you can do a lot more with it. There are a lot of command line programs for OSX that the average user wouldnt even know about or how to use. It is much more stable then Linux, and Linux isnt based on UNIX, it is just a UNIX clone.

... anyways ...

Has anyone (running a Mac OSX computer <- thought I'd clarify) installed the 10.7.4 update? I don't want to break the PoE port.

Note: I had no problems using the "invite" and my wife (15" MBP) and I played over the weekend for about a total of 14 hours, nearly all "in party".

PS Please don't feed the (troll) fish...

I never said more people program on OSX, I just said lots do. Mainly people that dont make windows software, or do lots of web development, as the web is platform agnostic. I just hate seeing people claim Mac OSX is just for the computer illiterate.

As you pointed out Mac OSX is based off NextSTEP, which was designed for development. DOOM being a great example, but also the first web browser was developed on NextSTEP.

I hope that GGG makes an official Mac port of Path Of Exile, especially considering the two main rivals, Diablo 3 and Torchlight 2 will have mac clients.
Flytheelephant If you are here to just troll, go away. This is a serious thread for mac users. I for one am a Windows, Linux, and Mac user. Somethings are better on Mac, some better on Windows, and some Better on Linux.

FYI I have updated to 10.7.4 and am still able to play.

Feel Free to update your mac :)

If the flow of conversation in the last few posts seems odd, it's because I removed a bunch of spam and trolling from this thread.

Good News! I had some graphic issues last night in the Chamber of Sins. Anyone else having this issue?

I'm going to try different versions of Wine with that dungeon to see which is better :)

Results:

Well I was running on 1.4rc, simply changing to 1.4 has fixed my issues with the dungeon.

If any of you want to change your wine version to try to fix any bugs you come across, you can simply by downloading Wineskin Winery:
http://wineskin.doh123.com/

Launch the Winery and install some versions of wine. I suggest the ones I list on the first page that run the best.

Then you can go into Path of Exile.app:

Right Click POE.app, and Show Package Contents. Open the Wineskin app inside. Select Advanced, Tools and Change Engine Used.

Yup, I've been trying to eek out the best FPS and I'm going between the WS81.4 and the WS91.5.4.

I think I've bumped up my frames by simply turning off logging in Wineskin. What I've found is my awesome 17" MBP has a woefully under powered 256MB video card for gaming... but that's not why I use it... so... I'll make do.

Edit: Whoops, forgot to check the energy Saver settings... now that I've turned on my 512MB 9600 card, I'll check my FPS again....
:-/

Update: so I'm running WS81.4 with all graphic settings disabled @ 1024x640 (set my MBP to 1280x800). My FPS is running around 55 but I still get a huge drop when a new boss shoots (new animation) but its very playable. My wife and I have made it to Act 2 and are really enjoying co-op (party) play.

Wohooow.. Respect for the huge effort you put into the port. Deeply appreciated!

I am just wonering if my MBP 5,5 is good enough to play PoE? It has a nvidia 9400m gfx card ( not very powerful :/ ).

What Macs do you play with?
