Unofficial Path of Exile Mac Client - Download - v.2 Released

So, I thought instead of just asking I better acting in return towards the developers of the game with some money and the guys who put this wine thing together with some info.

I bought a supporter beta key and I am having good news. The game is absolutely playable (managed to play in windowed mode so far) on my MBP 5,5. I will dig into deeper and give you more feedback. Guys, this thing is great!

Here are the specs of my MBP:

MBP 13-inch, Mid 2009
Processor 2,26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 9400M 256 MB
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.4

Update:

However startup time is about 40 seconds the playability is seriously nice.

After playing about one and a half hour I can say it's nicely playable in 1024x600 on my machine even in the first town. No hangups or any other serious problems. The program itself is effective normally takes up about 30% of CPU usage and in busier parts I can see 80% CPU usage. Bigger resolutions are playable too, but there will be hiccups here and there.

When I try to enter full screen mode the program quits.

Again, this is a very, very nice effort and a super cool game. All in all defenetly recommended.

@ThaMas

Check System Settings and Energy Saver and if you have any graphics settings in there you might want to try the higher setting.

I'm pretty sure your MBP is just the smaller version of my wife's 15" and she has that setting.

I have a 17" MBP and also run in the small 1024x600 size for better performance and like you enjoy a nice long (30+ seconds) launch time :-)

So good to hear you are able to run it fine! Odd thing is I can run in Fullscreen, and I've had others who can as well. Of course it might be that Wine will vary from computer to computer on what it will render best for them.

Of course, what I have posted before about trying different versions of wine can possibly give you better performance.

Also the launch time should be normal, as the wine is loading the processes and getting it all ready :)

Thanks forthe tip. Unfortunately I have no graphics settings there. But never mind I can still play nicely. :)

Gonna try other wine versions within some days and I'll comeback with that.

Thanks for your effort putting this thing together! Kudos!

No Problem! Lots of people do not want to do bootcamp, and some people do not own a copy of Windows.

Wine can be a hassle for many users, so why not help out the community!

According to Uploading.com (one of the download links) there have been around 200 downloads :)

Glad that people are using it and having fun!

Okay, installed wine WSWine1.4 through Wineskin Winery and according to a quick test it works in fullscreen mode. I haven't had the chance to test it longer but within a few days I will come back and update which resolution is the best. In windowed mode, 800x600 was the most playable to on my Mid2009 MBP.

Update:
Tried several resolutions, still 800x600 works the best for me even in fullscreen mode. Very playable, super fun!

I've been switching between WS91.5.4 and WS81.4 and I'm getting slightly better results with WS91.5.4.

I was running at 1152x720 but have since switched to full screen 1280x800. During some testing today I was getting a huge frame drop whenever a new animation played, like when Merveil dies. I might switch back to 1152x700 and see if I get it there too.

All in all, having way too much fun playing.
