hello all, i missed thecut throat session! opps
just a quick Q & A
was it unbalanced?
were caves open instances?
could i jump someone who had nearly killed a boss and steal the kill? by killing them then the boss?
could i lure boss/mobs on another user? and steal that users items when he dies?
did users drops all items or a random amount?
are towns the only safe zones?
Cheers
I believe phase run + dual strike combo is pretty op.
All instances are able to be invaded.
Yes you can, I attempted it on Brutus last night but the player managed to run away.
Yes, did this a bit last night when fighting worse than 1v2 odds drag them through a ton of monsters.
All items are dropped besides your flasks and skill gems.
Towns are the only save zones.

You can even get credit for a boss without killing it. We went in to gank someone killing brutus and a few seconds after we got in it told us to go get our reward.

it's also a good way to move through areas quickly when you don't have much aoe, just join someone's half finished instance instead

... The only reason people were getting that far in the tests that we've seen is because most of players are still playing normal. if we have 1500 people online in cut-throat people will be ganking low levels all the time.
I posted a possible solution in the last cut-throat tread.
Basically, when you ctrl+click on the entrance to an area to manually enter an other player's instance of an area, if the game only offered you instances created by players who are a certain range of levels above or below you, you would easily prevent players with large level differences to be in the same instance.
For example, by only offering instances created by players 5 levels above or below your own, you would never meet anyone over 10 levels above or below your level.
GGG could pick whatever number is fair and fun for everyone. Even make the number change as you level (linearly, logarithmically, whatever).
See second post from the last here for more details and examples:

Easily exploitable. Let's take two friends, John and Joe. John could make a character and suicide to keep himself at level 1, while Joe runs John through all the content so that John has access everywhere. Then, John can make instances and invite people to parties, allowing people to farm in peace, safe from ganking.

Took me a while but I think I get what you are saying.
What if the highest member in a party is the one that counts, both when creating an instance (a.k.a. entering your own instance), and when entering someone else's instance?
If John makes an instance on his own, only players lvl 1 to 5 can ever enter his instance. If he parties with a lvl 60 and goes in, lvls 55 to 65 (and lower if in a party with these) can invade.
