Hey all,

I'm running this build (char name HugePPSquad) in my profile, and have basically the budget version of everything required. Some Atziri's Acutity's just dropped off of Uber Atziri and I'm selling them for ~7ex. I'll have about 8 or 9ex to use on upgrades.

Can anyone tell me what I should prioritize based on the gear in my profile? HoAg 21, Empower 4?

This is actually a really important point that I think may get missed. Although the guide indicates a 2g2r2b as the optimal socket colors, the dps differential between that and a 4g2r or 4g1r1b is small while the price differential is enormous. Barring big spenders, there will likely always be better uses for your exalts than buying "optimal" colors.

On top of that, it is *much* easier to work skitterbots into your mana pool with more greens which tend to be less mana expensive. Personally, I think the worst of all worlds is a 2g/2r/2b as you end up with stuff like minion speed (130), minion damage (130), and damage on full life (130).

Compare this with a 4g2r or 4g1r1b where you substitute things like vile toxins (120), or vicious projectiles (120). For budget players a 4g2r or a 4g1r1b is probably the best choice.

tldr: buy a 2+ skills chest with four green sockets, one red and final socket either red or blue if possible.

Might actually be worth discussing this in the OP.

Yeah, limited testing shows the clarity level does matter. Broke down and got a level 4 Enlighten.

Level 13+ (which Act 1 Nessa sells conveniently) Uptime is well over 90%. And that's mostly when it falls off when nothing is close enough to yell/mass frenzy at. Worth considering depending on mana situation.

Related: Tropical Island has Blood Progenitors. They also have mass frenzy, and poedb.tw.xyz says they have over twice the health and much better cold/lightning resist. Assuming google translate got it right. But you can't get them anytime for free in act 7. I'll test them out sometime tonight. I can't find mana totals for any of these.


Holy cow, if this works, it will be a massive improvement for the build outside of maybe a tiny percentage of contents!
Whats the best links for 2 red 2 green 2 blue?
I currently have
G: HOAG, Pierce
R: Empower-3, Damage on Full life
B: Minion Damage, Feeding Frenzy.

I think maybe replacing feeding frenzy with deathmark?
Some thoughts about this build:

Level 1-68
Leveling this build with 4L bow gems with Agony was quite painful for me. The crawler was doing great dps but i didn't find leveling smooth and often died a few times on bosses. Probably not the best idea to use blast rain as the main skill i think!

Once you have the minimum required gear to start from the excellent guide by hitmantb.

I was completely floored, even at my current level I'm facetanking T16 corrupt map bosses (including the metamorph boss) without a Rumi's and I didn't even take Bastian of Hope. It really makes my previous bladestorm 79 block gladiator look like a joke with higher defence and MUCH more dps coming from the mana guardian build.

My ES shield has never gone below 50% ever so far, losing a few hundred most of the time then it just fills back up again after a few seconds. As long as you keep molten shell up, also using the vaal version when doing meta bosses.


Most of my gems are only 18 now and have not had improved quality as yet. I'm sitting on 10.2k ES, running flesh and sand/hatred/precision/HOAG. Can't get enough for skitterbots.

My question is, whats my next logical upgrade? One thing that I haven't taken advantage of is onslaught from ascendency for the crawler since I've only got 3 spectres, I need raise minion to be lvl 25 at least for this but I'm going to hit 24 (20 + 3 + 1). Thinking maybe a +2 wand for this?

while possible i'm not sure the usefulness of it. the next level doesn't add much dmg at all. infact a node like influence of the tree adds more dps than getting another level for HoAg. as long as you are hitting the 31 breakpoint then anything else is sacrificing survivability for a tiny dps incremental. for example. level 30 HoAG is 4.1m dps. 31 is 5m dps but a 32 is only 5.2m. so the jump isn't worth sacrficing ES for in my opinion

yea this exactly. i originally paid 3ex for a corrupted +1 4g2r skin. i sold it try something else and ended up buying another for 10ex which is still an amazing price. compare that to one with a blue socket that is 80ex or a 2g2r2b for 35ex.

problem is that there is a small supply of them on poetrade now and basically any useable colour combo is priced out of this planet. the only budget colours now is 3blue and 3blue is trash and doesn't really beat a regular skin with the right colour

You should get the 3x Grand Spectrum jewels first.
Then you can choose between going for damage or more ES.

For ES get clarity watchers eye
For Damage a +2 Chest with 3G,2R,1B and use awakened VP instead of Maim.
Also can do +2 wand or ring with Agony damage.
If you wanted to try run skitter bots go for +1 corrupt gloves.

I just ran tropical island, blood progenitor is the boss, you can't spectre him :(
Also not sure how it would improve the build for everything except a tiny percentage contents... I would say it only improves the build for a tiny percentage of content. Because even if it were useable, which it isn't as its the map boss, it won't survive Sirus, Uber Elder or deep delves, which is the focus of the build.

But maybe thats just me. The clear speed of the build is abysmal, and all the possible improvements to it in the world won't make it anything but a very slow build. So I tend to disregard any improvements focused on that and only go for making it more viable against the end-game and deep delves.
