Modders, please remove all diablo threads to Off Topic part of forum
" No offence meant but I think that's a bit silly. You rely too much on other's opinions while admittedly had fun playing the game itself. Total nonsense if you ask me. You know, I kinda used to be like that too; I used to read comments and also relied on user's score on metacritic to weigh my decisions on games to buy or try until (thanks to steam Christmas super discounts and weekend madness) I tried some of the games I discarded because they apparently were bashed by the users and you know what? I had a good time in a good deal of them... sure, sometimes they were right but ultimately the gaming experience is so subjective that ratings are almost pointless. I also learned something else from that: aside of the trolls, those who dislike a game are ALMOST ALWAYS the most vocal in the comments, the rest is just probably playing having fun. I want to be part of the latter part of the community so I just ignore every comment, good or bad, and base my decisions on my guts and on gameplay footage. In fact I like to watch the first episode of a playthrough on youtube and some random moments from later episodes (I mute it and randomly jump ahead so that I don't spoil the storyline) to help me decide if I want the game or not and so far this approach has been pretty succesful I have to say. As for the D3-PoE comparison I am totally fine with it. I mean it's silly to just pretend the big elephant in the room doesn't exist and as long as the comments are constructive, propose ideas and conversation arguments rather than just say "<game> is awesome" or "<game> sucks" I say they are very welcome. |

" Ok, I stopped reading the thread at this post, because it's just ridiculous. I can totally stand behind everyone saying that bashing another game on this forum is pointless. But to say you're leaving because you saw people bash D3? If that's true, then you must be the thinnest skinned person on the internet. C'mon man, at least be honest and say you got bored with PoE... As for saying that the community sucks...um...are you basing this opinion on a comparison to the D3 community? |

" It's a case of cause and effect. Most of us weren't here to see the cause that resulted in kodr's jadedness and...actually, it looks a little like rage there. Kodr's not stupid and he's definitely not a troll, he's just had enough of something I believe not all of us have seen in its entirety. Unfortunately, the nascent anti-d3 sentiment here is rekindling all that... I do think he should just leave though. At least for now. Because this isn't going to change. Just as I will leave if the prevalent tone loses much more of its reason and rationality. It's only going to get worse, I feel. Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts. No exceptions. Not even for billionaires.
Post this sentiment publicly and see how long it lasts here. |

@KartofenSalad and Syntastic :
well... I already explained somewhere why I left. The game was fun at first, but he became boring after reaching the second difficulty level. I continued playing because I wanted to share some insight with the devs about what could be improved. I saw the first problem at Cruel, and I rushed to Chaos to see if it was different. Sadly it wasn't. The problem with D3 bashing? Well... I think PoE is pretty boring right now (and not much changed since I stopped playing) and reading some nonsense about how D3 is dumb down? I think 2 things about that: - are people really that stupid when they think D3 skill system isn't deep (gameplay wise)? (and that's why I don't want to take part in this, what the point in calling out their stupidity) - I didn't want to say PoE is boring because I know it's hard to develop a game (I'm a game dev aswell), the game is still ok and could be improved What's left? Moderators won't moderate people spouting some shit about D3, and they don't really have argument about that (except CharanJaydemyr). They just say D3 has shitty graphics (which is kinda true) without paying attention to the gameplay. PoE is a lot worse in that sense... gameplay is repetitive (more than your usual hack'n slash), few skills, few enemies, the loot is unappealing, and the skill tree only give the illusion of freedom (it isn't deep, it's just misleading for noobs). Take a look at GW2 traits, their traits are pretty simple, but it's because they have a gameplay to back it up, that's why GW2 is deep and PoE isn't (or maybe I'm super smart, I don't know...) PoE is still in development? true, that's why I prefer to not bash the game, and I already posted my concerns in the beta forum. I could also talk about PoE graphics, the game looks great, but the gears are also unappealing (the marauder looks like a hobo, the duelist is kinda gay, and my shield is a door) It's just so easy to critize a game, but it just adds more oil to the fire. 2 ways to prevent this: - mods could do their jobs - add a feature to ignore users some guys want to circlejerk about how they are completely clueless about D3? fine, but I don't want to read this shit. I'm more a gameplay guy, and right now, PoE doesn't hold a candle to upcoming hack'n slash. D3 is dumb down? Nope, read the skills again and take a look at enemies behavior and affixes. Some question you can ask yourself about D3: - why do skills have cooldown? - why each class have a different ressource system? - why is there ressource generator skill and what does it changes gameplay wise? - what kinda of mobility and crowd control skills each class have? - what does it mean "monster has 4 affixes in Inferno"? @CharanJaydemyr: I agree, I will certainly leave again. But reading the mods saying "fuck that, we don't moderate here" was enough to lose the grip. PoE forums ignore list script: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/162657 0.4: added "ignore" button. ignore list is now saved locally. Last edited by kodr#0209 on Apr 4, 2012, 7:08:54 PM
