Modders, please remove all diablo threads to Off Topic part of forum
I really don't have anything if people gonna bash diablo or compare it to PoE, but please, i would be grateful if it would be done in offtopic forum, where it belongs I think.

Unfortunately these topics are just unavoidable. If I remove then another will be created within an hour. I do keep an eye on them to make sure they don't get out of hand and remain relatively civil. I also try to make sure that there's only one of these threads on the front page of general discussion at a time.

This is the most competent response in an official forum from a mod I read in a long time. Keep this up you'll make a lot of friends.

I like diablo 1 better than diablo 2

If the discussion includes PoE, it's fine to be in the General Discussion section. If it's nothing but D3, it's headed to Off Topic. If a relevant thread degrades to back-and-forth insults and general garbage, it's going to Off Topic (or simply getting locked).

Policing these boards is a bit like trying to control a bag full of grasshoppers.
The minute you get one under control 3 more are getting out. The majority of the posts here are just people posting in the hopes they get into beta faster, people post single words and so on. I think that given that Diablo was 'the start' of the genre and what everyone is measuring up this game against, it's not to terrible that the conversations reference D1/2/3. It shows that the devs are doing something right. If the game was bad, people wouldn't bother. For the most part, there are the areas where random one word post threads exist and there are good discussion threads out there, you just have to pick through them all slowly. |

I can't really see a problem with this as long as it stays reasonably constructive.
I love the fact that GGG acknowledge the Diablo series and the fact that it birthed the genre they currently are developing their game in. It's refreshing that they address what new PoE players (loyal to the old diablo games) will probably view as the elephant in the room - instead of shoving it under the rug and nazi-modding against any D3 related posts. The fact that GGG engage in such an open dialogue with the fans quickly made me a big one and I have no doubt they are the kind of people who can make a truly awesome game without massive investors behind them. There's nearly no dialogs here, only some guys bashing D3, and no post from GGG (but it's kinda a good idea to not fall into those tar pits)
The problem is that it creates a negative feeling around the game. A new player who is neutral to both games will take a look at the forums and will see all the trolls enjoying themself by bashing a game he may like... well... that's not a good start. In the end, if the PoE community can't moderate itself (because it seems the mods won't do it), they will only get all the D3 haters and will push away all the other players. If that's what the community wants, I don't care... If that's what GGG really wants? not sure about that. More players is always good for the game. And killing the game by allowing a few trolls to rage here isn't a good idea IMO. Ho well... the game can only have the community it deserves... PoE forums ignore list script: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/162657 0.4: added "ignore" button. ignore list is now saved locally. Last edited by kodr#0209 on Apr 3, 2012, 12:40:29 PM

Was looking forward to D3- UNTIL PoE dawned it's pretty head! |

" A few trolls killing the game? I think that's quite a stretch and you're underestimating the avg. D3 fan. I am a big Diablo fan, and the first thread I read was a PoE vs. D3. I didn't get butthurt and instaleave because I saw troll bashing D3 and neither will the avg. D3 fan. IGN's:
