Cyclone

I actually just re-thought my initial post here, I don't think the skill needs a damage buff. I think 35% is perfectly fine. I also don't think the mana cost needs to be reduced.

I think the skill would just be much more useful and less irritating if the mana cost was actually a 'per second' basis (where just initializing it will cost mana and then XX mana consumed per second while in use). The reason for this is that it would make more sense to do mana cost this way based on the following: I think the destination of the Cyclone should dynamically change while in use, to where your mouse cursor is, allowing people to circle around enemies with the skill and effectively use it a single target DPS (though not quite as effective as a single target skill).

Some of you guys act like every skill should do everything... It's quite entertaining to read but it has to suck for the devs... petulant whining more often than "hey thanks GGG this skill is one of many awesome ideas" it's ridiculous.


It's beta skill feedback, and we are giving feedback (and whining a little yes) If it were comparable to cleave would be less complaints. It's just way worse. I don't want it OP just on level with cleave and ground slam. Its sad that my freezing pulse witch destroys everything with worse gear then my melee. (but I guess that's a problem with physical dmg vs elemental and spell dmg


Edit: It would also help if armor didn't work in a very stupid way where 70% wasn't much better then 35% x 2 ... Whats the point in having armor work like that? Why even have a physical reduction line on defense.

they should add a passive node or a curse or a support gem which reduces the Armour by XX% per hit for X sec.

For example: 5% less Armour for each hit for 3sec. So with 5hits/sec you could stack it up to 15stacks. So if you hit very oft in this time the enemies have less Armour and the Armour penalty is less worse.

Would make skills like Cyclone viable for fast 1hand physics builds -.-

Hey guys, just wanted to throw my 2 cents in.

I'm a 54 Dual claw shadow using cyclone. I have 5% mana leech and 3% life leech plus 12 life per hit.

My attack speed with cyclone is 154%, and it hits so many grouped targets so fast that I have to shut off my speakers because of the sound effects noise it makes.

I have to say, in act 1 merc doing ledge runs, cyclone is great. The damage is tricky. My dual strike is at 1600dps. (Yeah, low?)

Cyclone says it's at 459.

BUT...the damage I inflict on a mobs health bar with 1 dual strike is the same percent that I inflict on EACH monster in a group on 4-10 mobs with 1 cyclone. It does MORE damage. I'm running cyclone/mana leech/faster attacks/added lightning damage. (With shock, this damage could be nuts)

I don't have cleave to test since i'm dual claw.

When it comes to survivability, i can be at 15% hp and barely any mana and 1 cyclone through 2-4 guys will fill me up. Throw that in with a health or mana pot and it's damn hard to die. The desynch is the only thing that kills me.

I will occasionally add warlords mark if the group is 15+ guys or there is a rare. I have a lightning damage gem attached to cyclone with the lightning/shock passive. (i'm aiming for the shock node as well.) If I find a phys reflect, I have lightning strike to take them out. for single mobs, I use dual strike. My tactic with cyclone is to flicker/whirling blades past to the far side of the group and cyclone back, rinse and repeat.

A damage boost to the skill would be incredible. I can post a video and my skill tree if requested.

This has nothing to with Cyclone, but with how attack speed scales with Elemental damage.
A general issue in my belief. Fixing this would be so lovely - back to manmode!

Not doubting you in the least, but as a L44 dual claw Shadow, I have the complete opposite experience! It's faster for me to Dual Strike individual monsters to death than Cyclone them in AE situations. Cyclone kills ungodly slow for me and leaves me vulnerable, I've yet to find any sort of use for it.
skill aint worth using until its just as effective as cleave or better.

Only two things so far that I've noticed that needs looking into, 1)desync...omg!
2) resolution tech passive node with cyclone..should be 100% hit except for block...

ok so how do vases, boxes etc block?

I used cyclone to smash some vases open and I didn't hit one of them at all, so typed /oos thinking desync problem and tried again...nothing, 3rd or 4th time I eventually got them all.

My understanding is 100% to hit is 100%?

Can understand vs block that you don't hit but come on...vase blocking or crate -.-
I may be having good experiences with it but hell, buff the skill and I will be happy as...
