Cyclone
casval776: in ledge everything will be down in one jump .... its not possible to even come close to this speed with cyclone ...
I cant imagine what do you think by it was so fast .... does whole group died on on cyclone? if not than its slow compared to LEAP SLAM!!! Maybe you played with ground slam before or lightning strike and with these skills its not so fast how it can be with leap slam ... The slowest part of the play is to take the things from the ground :-) |

OK my 2 cents. I love it. I'm not going to say it should be nerfed, but I find it pretty damn powerful. I am a dual wield duelist, currently sword and axe, level 37, and now I have to start rattling off numbers from memory so they might be slightly off. I believe my basic DPS is 285 or so. My run speed is not great, I think 20% increased. Pretty good attack speed increases already, including berserking.
Cyclone is level 4 right now, cleave 9 (I think it leveled). Before getting cyclone I used flicker and cleave, mainly, now I add cyclone in to the mix. DPS on cyclone is about 125 IIRC. Immediately when I got it (several weapons and levels back), I found that it killed faster than my level 8 cleave. So there's that. Now I have melee on full life and life on hit on the cleave so it's OP compared to cyclone which has nothing supporting it right now. I plan to change that soon because I still see it being very powerful. Motion speed is slightly slower than run speed, just mentioning that as FYI, most people probably realize that. What I use it for, now, is plowing into mobs, setting up for my cleaves. So far I haven't been endangered by not having any support leeching on it, enemies have a hard time targeting you when you use it, IMO. The other nice thing I find I can do with it is, if I leave only one or two enemies standing, or I get far enough past a mob that I need to flicker to get back in there quickly (style choice I guess), cyclone gives me a nice period of time to plan my flicker and smash the appropriate enemy. I think it's really great and, as I said, I was killing faster with it than cleave, back when I was measuring those things more closely. I haven't lost a loot item yet due to cyclone though I see how that is possible with skilled ninjas around you. -Aaron |

I have thought about it, comparing this to cleave/LS/Groundslam etc as an aoe option - and due to the risk it puts you in, I think you should be immune to all ailment during spinning. This would make this skill more unique and worthwhile.

GGG, whether you buff cyclone or not, please allow players to use it while standing still for the same mana cost and duration as the minimum range. It will greatly help to deal with desync and make the skill viable for now. It will help players realise how strong the single target DPS is.

I have a lvl 40 duelist dual wielding with swords. Got berserking blood magic and life leech passive and got a sword w/ 1.6/s attack speed & 3% life leech as well. Added faster attacks support gem and blind & I find it very effective especially in large groups. Level 1 blind seems to proc very often maybe due to fast attack speed. I pop molten shell & a granite flask if I need to tank stronger mobs.

I cannot see how this skill would be better of playing pure physical. It's clearly an elemental skill. There just arent enough nodes to spec into physical damage if you compare it to elemental.
Run a few ele aura's, use weapon elemental and get a ele weapon and it will beat every physical builds. Also its kinda bugged that, without Resolute Technique, when you miss one mob you miss them all. I've been going over mobs for like 3 or 4 times not hitting them (wasnt desyncing). Thougts on how to improve this? I have no idea for the physical part, elemental dmg seems to thrive over physical in almost every build. On the Cyclone part? I feel the thought behind it is actually realy good. Maybe buff the dmg a bit, reduce the minimum distance by a little bit and do something about the mana cost. Those are just minor tweaks, nothing serious. I like the skill and once it will get tweaked it will be allright. Also comparing this skill to cleave makes no sense. The mechanics behind this skill are totally different from cleave. Maybe cleave is more easy? Well maybe so, but if you want easy why not just go Lightning Arrow or Freezing Pulse? " Since I mentioned cleave, I'll go ahead and take this as a personal attack on me... ;D Cleave is used (at least by me) to whack at a bunch of enemies in front of me. Cyclone will whack at a bunch of enemies in front of me. So, I don't see why it "makes no sense" to compare this to cleave. The mechanics are different, sure. But the USAGE is similar, so I felt it made complete sense to compare them. Maybe there's something fundamental about my build that makes this more logical than cleave for me to use? I described my build so, correct away! Why not lightning arrow or freezing pulse? Uhm, because I want to play melee? LOL -Aaron |

Playing Cyclone on a cyclone based physical build level 75, including maps. It works but it is very prone to human and technical error. If you misclick or fps-drop or (most likely) desync your life is not in your hands anymore because you always have to whirl balls deep into the groups and kiting is not an option. It even works physical if you have some gear and put some thoughts into your survival kit but elemental surely smokes it like on any other melee skill.
My build summarized is a combination of what in general is considered 'bad' (it isn't per se): -Evasion -Acrobatics -Dual Wield -Claws I don't die in maps to normal or severe circumstances, deaths were either stupid recklessness on my side and often bugs involving spinning near obstacles and mostly desync/fps-drop (no leech on a desynced cyclone is devastating). Bosses are a joke though which is a huge boon. (Physical) Cyclone isn't as bad as people make it out to be but you need to evolve your build around it. I'd really like better dual-wield support on it and a buff to the usage in physical builds because they sadly just can't really compete with the usual templar-weapon-elemental-stack-lightning-static-blows builds. |
