Cyclone

Where is any response from devs? Seems like "We made a NEW SKILL. But its a garbage. Eat that".

And : Why so much ggg's hate on dual wield and duelists?

Been watching some streams on twitch where some of the guys from GGG made some comments to people complaining it's crap, and it's mostly been "We've tested the skill ourselves and it's VERY powerful".

I hate the way this skill works, even if it did insane damage I'd still hate it. Click on a spot and move in a straight line towards it, unable to cancel the move till it finishes. Terrible. All skills in this game function the same way, boooring. It's just a slow version of whirling blades.

So much whine on this thread it reminds me of the D3 forums. I think Cyclone is great when combined with alot of attackspeed/accuracy and crit chance, think out the box people - how many have actually made a build from scratch revoling the skill ? ME
It would be nice for a dev. or mod to chime in and have something to say on it all.

After all it is a beta skill feedback and nothing seems to be forth coming from GGG themselves.

I'm hoping that they are taking note of the problems with Cyclone and would comment soon on it all.

I find myself that I desync when using this new skill, with Res Tech passive selected too I still seem to not hit anything at times.

I heard one dev. on another thread, stating it could be block from the mob and not the skill missing or person desyncing etc.

Maybe add an animation for blocking to show this?

Though I'm puzzled why Dev's answer on another thread over this skill, than to come here and answer all that is being asked here.

You don't seem to understand how crit works. It only roll once, when you start the skill, it's not on a per hit basis.

I'm currently using it with a 2H weapon and I'm doing fine, we'll see at higher levels if it's still ok.

So I'm 65 lvl dual Claw Shadow. And while my Dual Strike deals 2900 DPS, Cyclone's tooltip shows only 270 DPS. Is it for real?.. I'm using for AOE Lightning strike - it gives like 1000 DPS, and feels so much better with more control over my character. I've just tested Cyclone in Docks - and well, i've died =(.

Me too...and now at clvl59.

Personally I'm finding it more efficient with a big slow physical 2H maul than the 2 fast elemental weapons I started out with.

OB: BazzVone - 83 Dual Spork Totem Templar /w CI and minions
CB: BazzVfourteen - 80 Dual Spork Totem Templar /w CI
CB: BazzVtwo - 73 Dual Spork Totem/LS Templar
CB: BazzVseven - 76 Lightning Strike Mara
CB: BazzVfive - 78 Lightning Strike Mara
yep, it seems a lot better with 2H weapon.
I'm still leveling a new character, but I got this weapon yeasterday:

can't wait to try it :)

^This.

This thread is full of the same crybabies who whine about everything. Take out their posts and we'd still be on page 5. The skill is fine, albeit suffering a bit from desync. However, the design of the skill itself, in a way, works around that.

I tried the skill on a 69 Dagger Witch with a decent amount of crits on a 4L: Cyclone + Faster Attacks + Melee on Full Life + Melee Physical. The result was a good amount of crits and some nice sustain from Blood Rage but not exactly fitting the style of the build I was playing. Probably have to redesign a CI Dagger Shadow to work around it.

I also tried the skill on a 57 2h Sword Duelist. The results were stupid. Just stupid. I farmed Ledge and Fellshrine really fast beforehand. This skill makes it stupid fast. The sheer amount of damage I'm putting out whenever I come remotely close to a mob is just ridiculously high.

The skill is fine, just suffering from a bit of desync. The mana cost isn't even a problem, with a decent amount of mana regen and actually targetting the skill to spin for more than 3 feet, you'll regen the mana back naturally. You could even steal it back in the process with a big group.
LGoH + Cyclone is ridiculously high sustain.

EDIT: Totally forgot, I was using Cyclone + Melee Physical Damage + 11% Added Fire Damage + Faster Attacks + Reduced Mana (Couldn't think of anything else to use) on my Duelist.
If you're reading this, I'm probably on another year-long ban.
Thanks GGG.

I see a lot of people going around assuming that Cyclone must be awesome simply because D2's Barbarian's Whirlwind was so effective. I don't know how these people manage to get dressed in the morning or work a computer.

I made a build for Cyclone that may or may not work well. I'm a shadow and use 2-handed Mauls and Staves with high physical damage + hatred. In a few levels, I'll have Cyclone linked with Mana Leech, Cold Penetration, and a 6% quality Added Cold Damage gem. Combined with Frostbite and the Freeze keystone for a total of about 20% chance to freeze on hit, I'm hoping cyclone will leave a bunch of frozen monsters in its wake. I just don't know if I'll get enough damage to get some good freeze going even with a 2-H weapon. But even if the freeze lasts a split second, it'll probably be enough to ensure that I take a fraction of the damage I would normally (since I'll be out of melee range by the time the monster thaws). Maybe I'll put Blind on it too if I can get one.

Betcha level 1 Sweep with the same support gems ends up outclassing it anyway.

I'm at Act 2 Cruel and, as usual, survivability is becoming difficult. But I'm at Fellshrine and 3 levels under, so I can grind out about 5 levels there.
