Remove the minimum distance "cap".

At least make it shorter. It would make it less annoying to kill individual mobs and it would be balanced because of the high mana cost.
distance is equal to where you point...
Unless you click near you. It has a minimum travel distance.
Yes, please the minimum distance shorter... much shorter.
The pen is mightier than the sword, yet it is more permanent than a pencil.
I was very excited for this skill since D2 classic WW is my favorite skill in any video game I have played.

Here are some things I don't like:

- the minimum distance

- can't change direction in the middle of the cast

- low damage (it doesn't even compare to cleave damage-wise)

- if you use it against many bunched up mobs some don't get hit at all
Could cyclone be changed so that you can alternate the direction you're going in, i find this a huge drawback and had a few near death experiences because of not being able to stop or change direction while cycloning.
I recently found 2 decent daggers so I spended some time inventing a passive skill plan for cyclone to work with daggers and ended up with this one:

The idea behind it is going CI with Ghost Reaver, 54% ias, alot of armour with iron reflexes, 80% mana regen, 35% allres, 18% additional block chance, ~30% crit chance for shock stacks

These are the daggers:

Then I used my calculator to see what would be the dps on average gems (all level 17, all no quality) and a hit chance of 90% (not sure if that is realistically endgame). Here is what I calculated taking only the daggers and the passives into account:
Spoiler

Doesn't look too bad hmm?
Although I'm not sure if it works, after all it's just a theory.

P.s.: I guess the biggest problem will be getting RRRBG on a pure ES chest...

How would the Concentrated Effect support gem work with this skill? If it does work at all?
Reduce the range of the attacks, but increase the dmg?
A change (not the only necessary one though) that I feel would be good for the skill is that instead of attacking random targets in the AoE twice with each revolution, it should attack every single enemy in the AoE once per revolution. This would make the skill scale properly with large groups of enemies as every real AoE skill needs to to be competitive, would fix the inconsistency issue and make it more satisfying.
OK I tried more than one character with this new skill...

And what I can say that this skill is simply not worth to use. (I will level it slowly up and we will see on higher level, maybe it will dramatically change, because it have a nice bonus for leveling up)

The problems of this skill is simply...

1) I can do aoe much better and easier with ranged attacks or spells.
2) I can cleave which is still much better (dual wield)
3) I can jump with leap slam (its also much better)
4) I can spec to facebreaker build and wipe whole pack of mobs with 2 blows ...

I really tried to find something positive, I tried many gem combination but all of them never lead to anything interesting which would be better than anything what I already prepared....

- the skill have nice animation
- thanks to the forced move you are not able to do some interesting dps to mobs, because you will simply move out. (Thats the reason why its so bad and possible to use in endgame)
- currently its possible to use it only against very weak mobs (I am simply not so patient to use cyclone when I can just jump and wipe them much more quickly and with better AOE)
- Then I am using resolute technique, but sometimes it seems that I am not hitting them at all...

sorry that my post wasnt very positive....

But to make this skill somehow useful, it must be possible to move or stay on place based on our needs. (This will help to damage what we need, currently I can just do shortest possible way and its still wasnt fine)

ps. mana issue is not a problem, at least with blood magic, it cost really low amount of life...

melly me: its not attacking all mobs? So this is the reason why damage looks so inconsistent and against one mob it was somehow usable but as a AOE its absolutely without any use ....

OK I didnt see it from mine testing ... I think that its just bugged and that something is simply wrong ...

than it means that mechanism is somehow similar to whirling blades. (you can hit one target only once). Here you can hit them more times but when you cyclone into pack of mobs you will still hit them only once or 2 times because damage will spread to all of them ... if its really like that than I can say the only things - Bad design and I hope that they will change it...

It will be maybe useful after this change ...

Currently there is no reason to lower damage effectivenes because its not real AOE at all
