Any ETA on fixing these ridiculous AMD FPS drops? (e: Nvidia cards affected as well!)
It would seem that AMD/ATI have problems in general but they are working on a new driver to sort the problems (the are calling it frame pacing)...still in beta atm though

RadeonPro solution and 13.3 beta drivers didn't help me with FPS spikes. (Mobility Radeon HD 5650). I was testing in Docks while solo playing and spikes were noticable, ecpecially with Ice Shots.

try the 13.4 drivers and read the above 2 urls in the last post

Thanks for suggestions @jerger.
What I've done from last time was reinstalling system and installing 13.4 drivers. I've followed tips from first url (RadeonPro) last time and it didn't help much in my case. This time I was testing with the lowest in-game settings beside resolution. RadeonPro was also on. Overall FPS went of course up, this isn't any suprise. However anytime in combat fps goes up and down constantly and with larger crowds I had the same spikes, sometimes 2 sec freezes. This was all while single playing. I think there is not much I can do for now. I'll just follow new game patches and stable drivers. | |
Tried the 13.4 drivers now, performance is slightly better, BUT:
1. Game still crashes and freezes up the whole PC (no bsod so far) 2. Fps still spike down to 0-10 every 3 seconds even when doing absolutly nothing in an empty town. Just curious, those of you that are getting BSOD's, is it reporting an issue with 'atikmpag.sys'?
|
|
Nope, it was always 2 other dlls that caused the bsod
Crashdump1: BugCheckName CUSTOM_ERROR BugCheckCode 0x10000050 Parameter1 0xFFFFFFFFE1282A98 Parameter2 0x1 Parameter3 0xFFFFFFFFBF2FB968 Parameter4 0x1 Caused by ati3duag.dll Crashdump2: BugCheckName CRASH_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M BugCheckCode 0x100000EA Parameter1 0xFFFFFFFF89A20800 Parameter2 0xFFFFFFFF899A6C18 Parameter3 0xFFFFFFFFBA507CBC Parameter4 0x1 Caused by ati2cqag.dll Those logs are from WinXp still with the driver version 13.2 - sometimes there was no bsod, but VPU Recovery reseted the gpu - other times the PC freezes up during that without a reset or a bsod - which scenario occurs seems random. " Ive never BSOD and I have an AMD 4870 and this card should be more than enough to handle this game. Party play absolutely kills my FPS, and playing as a summoner its REAL fucking bad. Ive had to build my character around surviving at 15 or below fps in certain situations sometimes staying below 5, while sitting in town I get an easy 120+. The thing is I can play at 1920x1200 resolution, switch to 800x600 and have the SAME fps and same spikes. Changing resolution and turning the graphics down to runescape style doesn't make any difference. @ToNotBeDetermined Last edited by MustachePredator#0950 on Apr 27, 2013, 11:20:55 AM
