Hey guys there is only one thing i still don't understand. Why does he say you should make a 2nd account to mule your gems for you, why cant you just make a 2nd character on the same account and put the gems in the shared 1 week race stash? Or are you only allowed 1 character per account in the race league?
Cheers for the help in advance.

The mule is not permitted to participate in combat, you can bring it with you on quests to get the quests rewards but it is not allowed to do any combat.

So in theory you could make 5 other accounts and TP them in at the last second and get 6X the loot from bosses and every skill gem you could possibly need, and it would be allowed within the rules?

with a full party of 6 it would be 3.5x loot, each person past the first adds 50%. That is how mulling works, and is how I understand the op.
Ok fair enough thanks guys
Rather then the multi-box allowance or even in addition to why not just allow skill gems to be traded but nothing else?
It's kinda funny, apparently for some people if you are not 'dual/double striking' every single mob is not melee enough.

Get real please, melee will never ever be good if it's not given some ways to do SOME effective AoE in a game which is basically about killing obscene amounts of mobs as fast as possible. Don't cry later to GGG that 'melee sucks' if you refuse to take advantage of certain things and you just want to single target every damn mob or have some terribad AoE skill with small radius effectiveness.

Is physically impossible to be as efficient as ranged if you refuse to increase your AoE damage effectiveness.

Even if this results in too much cookie cutter builds it will send a signal to GGG that they need to add new ways to boost the more limited skills.
I will most likely participate in the melee competition due to me being in Australia and working, it would be difficult to go hard out with all the hours and MS difference for us here. This way I can just cruise through at a relative pace and hopefully not desync to much.

Great idea Kripp and am looking forward to it.

My current plan is to participate in a stricter version of this challenge in which no trading is allowed. I strongly dislike the trading allowances made in the original rules, to the extent that it spoils the competition for me. It gives too much freedom in character class selection, which I feel should have to be a meaningful decision in more ways than simply optimal skill tree position.
The Analytical Engine has no pretensions whatever to originate anything. It can do whatever we know how to order it to perform.

Indeed good idea and I'm looking forward to the results.

My current character is a melee marauder based on pretty much exactly what Kripp outlined in the OP.

There is a difference between a melee-aoe like Cleave or Sweep and a RANGED-aoe attack like GS and LS.

Learn the difference please. If you arent being swung at by melee enemies then you arent melee yourself.

Using a GS or LS focused build will not show you what the problem with melee actually is, so when i heard that GGG will be looking at this race as s reference to melee problems, it would be a shame if its undermined because people are playing GS/LS focused builds which are RANGED.

Actually if everyone ends up playing GS/LS builds, that very fact will indeed show melee problems.
