Wow, great idea Kripp. But i am still a fairly new player, i have found melee to be the most challenging. Most thrillexciting type of character to play, mostly since forever.
But.. i kinda dissagree with you on some of the ability choices. When i first started playing this game. It was decision between Duelist/Marauder - I thought of D3 and how overpowered barbs were, so i initiatlly picked duelist. When i figured out quickly, maybe i should start marauder till i get some of the basics of the game down. Even still on my first duelist, i managed to have the ability molten shell drop. I pretty much ignored any type of spell / aoe / even most curses ( mostly because they seemed like wasted time. ) But i picked molten shield, to me it felt like a great melee ability. To cast molten shield, leap strike and start cleave/sweeping my enemies. Instead i think the rules should look like something like this. Primary abilities must be skills that scale off melee weapon damage. ( Must use weapons in hands.) IMO Molten shell should scale off damage of a weapon and convert it into fire damage. It also feels like a powerful asset to a melee character - Endurance shout, molten shield, granite flask , 90%+ more armor. And more! either way i can live without molten, i've ignored it for awhile anyways up till recently. Last edited by chronosoul#2658 on Feb 26, 2013, 7:30:56 PM

" With reasonable gear, yes. But with random drops, I don't think so. I imagine it could be hard facing hailrake straight on without good gear and proper cold resist. It's not sommething I would to in HC, rush to hailrake, or merveil. It takes at least some farming to get somehow good enough to continue. Not saying you can't Heavy Strike both non stop, just saying its risky as a HC strategy. |

" I didn't solo the entire race, my brother had a clone of my build (he had no race experience whatsoever) and I'll say that I somewhat carried him into the start of merciless act 2, where he died in forest due to disconnect. It did make surviving a bit easier though, even if it slowed me down. |

By those rules it means you cant play a melee witch or ranger as they both start with ranged weapons.
I guess you could fight unarmed till something dropped, or you got to town >.> Edit: Never mind reread the post :O Last edited by Sloth52#1795 on Feb 26, 2013, 8:49:26 PM

I have a few issues. I love Kripps channel and his challenges but I feel multi boxing on any level breaks the solo rules. Even if it doesnt enter combat, the "spirit" is to be a lone exile smashing the feck out of the enemy for your chance to redeem yourself. Using a 3rd party char to increase gem chances seems out of the "spirit" of saying no parties. Your using a "party" to increase the chance of a drop thus voiding the "spirit" of being a lone exile destined to solo your way out of this island.
Il take part and could easy multi box but I wont. Feels unfair esp to people who cant multi box on a tech level. If you want a gem Krip, just use your heroic char to buy that spefic gem and stash it. Personally I think "stash" useage needs clearing up, which league people will play in, or people may get annoyied if half way through the week people start "you died so your out" when its not stated. never played "melee" infact my first and only char is a wand templar. Im practising with builds already. CharhubaeliwillSMASH. Looking forward to continuing when im not pissed. Have fun and will become a supporter at the end of the week with payday chris! |

" Hes only using multiboxing for quest rewards. Playing only with the gems one class gets massively limits the options you have for builds. Theres no grouping to increase gem drop chance. Also, "3rd party char" isn't an appropriate term. Simply multiboxing has nothing to do with 3rd party anything. " This event is taking place during the official 1 week race starting on sunday. Everyone will have clear stashes. " You don't. You put the idea out there and hope people follow it. That's all you can do in a non official event/race. Its surprising how mnany people seem confused by this whole thing. Player made events/races/etc have been done in online games since online games existed. They are great ideas and usually add a lot to a game and its community. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out, and how these ideas grow afterwards. |
