So is this Jesus Christ?

Jesus gave rise to corruption.

Without his foundation people in power wouldn't have used it to their advantage.

You can argue that that was not his intention and i would be inclined to agree with you, but intention and reality often do not align.

All forms of religion boil down to what they are used for and how they effect you and your surroundings.
I'm pretty sure an all loving saint would not be offended by a writing that imply's that his teaching where misused and perverted by the ones surrounding and came after him.

In short, grow up.

Incorrect. Satan gives rise to corruption. He is the great deceiver and loves to twist and use religion for his own gain. All men will fall short and sin. Religious figures will use the bible out of context for personal gain . This is the goal of Satan to turn people against Christianity. There are true Christians out there though That follow the Bibles call to Love your neighbor as yourself and to Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind , and soul .
Also the card does not imply that his teachings were misused it implies that He, Himself misused his teachings.

Off to work. Be on later to continue on in any civil conversation any wish to have.
You have to be trolling at this point right? Otherwise you would not have ignored the perfectly rational comments that have been made in this thread, pointing out the flaws in your logic, instead choosing only to respond to the inflammatory instigating posts.

Sure, it says that. About the fictional "saint" described on the card, which is not Jesus. Again, it seems that you WANT this to be Jesus, so you have something to raise a stink about. Other than the use of classic artistic queues used in Christian iconography, nothing suggests that this is meant to be Jesus, rather that it is meant to be some sort of religious holy man/saint of the Church in the fictional universe where PoE takes place... a Church that is not Christianity.
U MAD?

Satan doesn't have a reason for existence in the absence of god.

Without good there is no evil and without evil there is no good. Both sustain one another, i don't know how old you are but if you haven't comprehended one of the most basics fundamentals like that while indulging yourself in religion then you still have a long way to go.

In the absence of the teachings of jesus, none are able to misuse them.

I don't care if you call the influence that leads people to perversion or misuse for personal gains satan or the spaghetti monster either way, it's besides the point of the teachings anyway.

Only a fool would dwell on such things, like a fool would dwell on a card introduced in a game to indulge his own ego with entertainment.

edit : seems like i misread the text of the card btw, but i still consider it irrelevant.

It seems rather glorified to assume a person wouldn't indulge in worldly pleasures if they are presented to them. That's the space where reality meets fiction and things start to unravel.

Carry on my waypoint son, there'll be peace when maps are done.
Lay your portal gem to rest, don't you die no more.

'Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this league.
Try to make maps meet, you're a slave to the meta, then you leave.
Don't forget, we have Aliras martyrs ingame. Nobody got offended by that yet?

Currently it is popular on the internet to bash religious people. They are often depicted as low educated, science hating bigots. If people draw cartoons, make jokes, photoshop memes, records a stand-up comedian or create funny short movies about the stupidity of religion it's always christianity that takes the blow. In POE it's the same. It starts with crucifixions on the beach. You have the crown of thorns. The dominus (roman catholics uses this name for the christian God) with the high priest lore sounds very similar to aspects of christianity but depicted as an evil and extremely sick abomination. And now this card that criticises the greed of a saint from the catholic church mixed with visual references to a classical depiction of Jesus.

Does it offend me? No. But it makes me sad that GGG is clearly on the same road as the average anonymous hero atheist that think it is cool to mock christianity as the representative of religion on the internet. The replies in this topic from GGG does not help giving me other thougts. I think its cheap and pubertal.

Is it not allowed to criticise christianity? Sure it is allowed! Please do so. It helps us getting better.
But is game content the place for such a thing? And is it fair that the 'edgy' content is limited to christianity? GGG also pushes away a group of RPG enthousiasts that felt at home in Wraeclast. Maybe they don't care. That's possible. It seems so. Okay... Maybe after 5 years of playing this game is not for me.

Edit: @boem. Corruption is found in religion but by far not limited to religion. If I look to my country the atheists are many times more convicted by a judge for corruption than christians. (Former) communist countries (build-in anti-religious for a century now) are always high on the list of most corrupted countries. With the freedom from atheism the moral compass doesn't get any better. I even think it gets worse.

Humans with, or humans without religion, are still humans, therefore they still hold human flaws. Same is with any concept humans come up with, in theory, some concepts are "pure and good", but because they are made up by "flawed" humans, they cannot ever be perfect in reality, that is why humans can only regard them as perfect concepts and try to withhold to them to achieve some form of spiritual and mental satisfaction.

@above post

PoE has nothing to do with religion IRL, it only draws inspiration from classical age (and many other cultures and ages), Romans weren't catholics (until very late years of empire) and they used crosses to punish people, so the symbolism you try to tie to christianism is actually tied to something else and something older, I could give more examples, but why bother?

Everyone is so fixated on something they recognize as their own, where are the people offended by depiction of Aztec gods ingame?
