What is Desync? (A thorough explanation)

no, i don't have to tolerate it like the rest of you. it's why i don't play but am still keeping my hopes up they fix it for release.

The solution to desync is more servers, closer to players. This will reduce delays and make the game smoother. Hopefully GGG can make enough money to fund these servers.

So you just here to troll ok. Thx for proving my point about making a supporter forum only
Impossible to remove desync? A desync of these proportions? I played quite a few fast paced complex PvP games over the internet and this statement is absolutely ridiculous.

Also, there was no desync one year ago. The game has been broken and you should deal with it.

This game can be a big succes but with this insane desync since the closed beta It is a fucking fail.

It´s ridicoulous that you never see anything similar betwwen your screen and what happend on server.

I am not playing until some improvement is done.

What happened after closed beta? More players joined.

More players equals more server traffic.

More server traffic equals more rubberbanding and more desync.

The technical issue was always present, the server could simply handle it better.

As the game becomes successful and funds are not spent upon creating new art and story assets, I'm positive that GGG will upgrade their server hardware.

Servers close to players = multiple server worlds.

The playerbase would be shattered.

I'm baffled. What part of my post was troll? I simply stated why i don't play. If you're fine with desync good for you but i'm not so i don't play. Doesn't mean that i don't like the game. Like i said for me desync outweight all the other good things because for me it is unplayable and only frustrates me.

Just because you throw a lot of money at GGG doesn't mean you need to have special treatment(forum). You already got that when getting the supporter pack. But who knows, if you pay more than 10k or what the top option is then maybe you can ask for special forum where you can input your opinion which is far more valuable than what other players have to say.

I mean the desync was present on closed beta too.

Servers are not the problem because i have 100 ping constantly and desync is present anyways. If you use a leap slam(for example) on a corner, you can run 5-10 seconds over the map and your position on the server is the same since you did the leap slam.

I would like more rubberbanding if the position upgrade correctly.
Thank you for that great read. I'm wondering though, if games like Dota 2, where split second reactions are very important, actually way more important than path of exile (PvE at least), is very much playable using an architecture that forces the game state to be synchronized at all times (as in the game is pretty much played on the server), why would one expect PoE to be unplayable under such conditions? If the ping is below 50 ms, even fast games are somewhat playable. I once played a lovely game called Bloodline Champions which was about Arena Style PvP only where you actually had to counter enemy attacks, and it was also handled server side; even such games are playable with a fine ping. So, im not denying it might be a difficult task for a small company as GGG to provide a server infrastructure that will yield a fine ping for the average guy, but in general, shouldnt such a system be more than sufficient for a PvE Hack n Slay?
