I'm quite new to the game, but i'm very excited about this competition :)
1 question tho: If i reach some rewarded level, lets say 15, but i die later, do i get the reward points, or should just keep it safe? Thx IGN: Maelifica

Just made a test-run for 1 h, made it to level 10, played as always (skipped no quest, yes for sure could improve that).
Means would not get any rewards at all, in closed beta I managed to receive some level prices in 3h races. Any possibility to get eg 1 reward-point for casual players like me having the chance for the lowest unique after the season? Proposal 1 reward-point for Levels 10-12. |

" If the race is HC, you will receive rewards (points) only if your character is alive at the end of race. In the unfortunate event of death you can start again. Main IGN: TopCat

" You need to play safe since it is only at the end of the race your level counts. Dieing 5 seconds before the race finish is very, very sour grapes! BTW. I really love Wanderlust and Redbeak sword. They are very strong on low level characters, so no need to sell them! Getting to 30 points in a total of almost 110 races should be possible. The ring at 60 is even better, since it is item-level 100. Making a rare out of that, can make for an extremely valuable late-game item. I am not sure about the rest of the prices, though. Anyone know how valuable they are? I appear to be living in "Romance Standard Time". That has to be good! :) Last edited by radiatoren#0601 on Feb 20, 2013, 10:12:28 AM

I'll give you a couple of ideas:
- Your character will stand up if you create a charater, exit to login and enter the charater again. If you do that before the race starts, you can save some seconds there. - Sideareas slow your leveling speed down in general. Sometimes it is worth it to go for the "extra skill point" quests in Flooded Depths, The Ship Graveyard Cave and Western Forest, but it is unlikely in a 1 hour race! - Blue monsters are almost always worth killing. They are a bit more difficult, but they give about 3,5 times the experience of normal monsters! - When you level up, remember to stay about 1 level below monster level if you can survive it +- 2 levels depending on what kind of build you go for and what zone we are talking. In act 2 it will be much more fuzzy, but generally the advice is to only progress in 3 hour+ races or keep repeating Western Forest if you can get there in the race you participate in. - Leveling strategy often involves repeating a zone like The Ledge or Western Forest untill certain levels. Hold ctrl when you click a zone or waypoint and choose "new" to get an unexplored copy of the zone. - Damage is important, but staying alive is even more so. Buy rings, flasks, belts and amulets or later in the game, weapons/armour from the vendor in town as you progress. Keeping those up to par with what level you are about to enter is crucial. - If you should pick up yellow items you cannot use is a religious question. Some do it to sell 4 unidentified and get an orb of transmutation to either make an item magic or sell for 4 scrolls of wisdom. Blue items you will not use are a waste just let them be! - Extra quality on items is ultimately of low importance and scrolls of wisdom will be extremely valuable to identify items you may want to use or buy flasks, so sell armourers scrap and blacksmiths wetstone. - Learn which yellow and brown monsters you can kill and which to avoid. It is more important to stay alive than killing every hard monster in the game. Particularly The Fake God in The Ledge (takes too long generally), Chatters in Lower Prison (very dangerous without enough cold resistance and life) and Sawbones in Upper Prison (takes too long generally) can be skipped. - Learn what the monsters in each level of game are and how your build holds up against it. - Learn the item progression to know when you can get what items and what items you want/can use that are better than your current gear. Most importantly: Learn to collect a group of monsters you can kill efficiently with aoe skills without dying. It takes practice to avoid getting too many but it is probably the most important ability in the game, when it comes to leveling speedily. Good luck! I appear to be living in "Romance Standard Time". That has to be good! :)

" I'm gonna miss the orb prizes too, but I'm willing to bet you will be able to get much more than 2 alchemy orbs for these exclusive prize items. These alternate art items will only be available for this race season. Next season will have a different set of alternate art items. So if you participate in this season and save any items you win, they are likely to be worth quite a lot of orbs after a couple months when they are not available anymore. |

" the bone of contention seems to be that those "unique art uniques" won't be so valuable since some are relatively easy to obtain and the market will get flooded. i don't have the numbers for what the "average" player is capable of achieving (although i guess i could download the csv's that were made available for the race calibrations) but i wonder if this an accurate prediction or wild guessing from the community. secondly, there appear to be a number of people contesting the value of unique cosmetics in a game that is still relatively new, and well cosmetics in general... i for one have never been overly fussed about how my character looks in-game. i'm currently spending micro transaction points on functional tools like extra premium tabs.
