HUGE HACK went down!!! who all got jacked.

Lol, this always happens with these games. Bunch of people who got hacked think that there is no way they were compromised. Blame the game. Happened with d3, no surprised to see people doing it here.

Pockie pirates, a game operated by Game321, had a shit ton of security issues where people can log into other people account and wiping people of their character and gear. Yea some people lost shit because they were sharing account with random people, like my guild leader with other guild members, but the majority of the account breach was the company fault. Even after 1 month or 2 by now, they have yet to get it fixed.

I believe Chris was a security programmer (or involved in the field at least) before founding GGG. You are not in the hands of idiots.

Yeah. Even major websites were reporting players hacked with authenticators, but no one was ever able to offer convincing evidence. Also, all of the reports of session hacks which turned out to impossible.

I'm really sorry, but we're not able to recover any items stolen by other players. Chris wrote up a long post about this which explains common ways players have items stolen, how they can keep safe and what we're going to do to make it safer for them. It also explains why we have a policy of no item restoration. I recommend checking it out: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/115464/

We are currently working on a system where accounts become locked if people log in to them from a different location. You will be able to unlock the account by typing in a code that is emailed to you. This system should be deployed by the end of February.

This is a piss poor policy. You should be compensating these people being hacked, or have your security system in order in the first place so these hacks don't take place.

You should be tracing the items to whatever account they are traded to and banning that account.

Basically GGG's policy is allowing thieves to go unpunished and the player is being punished for simply playing the game.

Absolutely ridiculous.

too many people got hacked. there is no recovery even if it isnt d players fault is a conclusive fact and that is disturbing. any1 can get robbed anytime
i say you work on developing an authenicator program aswell. as soemoen who was hacked hismelf last night & got t he very same response via e-mail. I want security over justice even though i lost 6 unique items
I am in the process of being hacked right now. I'm still logged in to the forum but can't get into the game (and was kicked out by whoever got my password). Only been to the wiki, --link removed-- and poe.xyz like many other people, never got random party invites, and am literally watching my currency items and gems vanish from my stash via the website interface. Whatever happened, it's affecting a LOT of people and it seems doubtful at this point that every single one of us randomly stumbled through some phishing website for PoE accounts.

Did you recently visited a skill tree that asked for your password?

It's not a piss policy, it's an excellent policy. Look at what happened with d3 - you get an amazing item and then you claim you were hacked, and effectively are able to dupe items. It fucks up the entire economy.

It's your own fault for getting hacked, as stated by GGG though in nicer words.
Do you people even know what phishing is? You're just repeating shit you see on CNN.

If he was then it would explain why he doesn't do it any more... why would you leave the password hashed in plan text... That's just stupid. Highly doubt Chris has any security training.
"Unfortunately, we cannot restore any items lost to theft." Unless you are a well known streamer then we will do anything for you.
