i got hacked too, char n gears still there but all currency are gone. 8+ yrs of online gaming exp, i know what to do to for my account security but still...

I've been posting in other 'hack' posts about java being compromised.
There was apperently an FBI warning went out early last month advising you to disable your java plugin for your browser.

I use firefox and it still has the plugin disabled.
There was also a security update on both windows and adobe flash in the last week.

As for the database being compromised...you are just taking your paranoia a bit to far.

I don't think it's Java, Chris said most of the "hacked" players they investigated used third party addons that contained malware. Very possible though.

It's one that hardly anyone knows about, it's prety simple to disable it...just to be safe and to point out that even though you think you might be secure you really aren't

im a simple gamer-i dont use 3rd party sites and goto chinese gold farming sites.
i work hard for my stuff (as little as it was)
but i wont dispute the fact that they could of got my info from somewhere.

with all that being said i have started my farming back up and have 1 chaos so far.

Didnt hear about map hacks and whatnot till yesterday when i got hacked and read it on the forums. Only sites that i go on that is related to PoE are poeex, poe wiki and poe.xyz. Those 3 are used by a lot of people including Krip and nugiyen. So either they're going through this slowly, or its not those sites.

The only thing weird that happened to me was a person with 1112314325 or w.e as their acc name, but they had a normal name, so i accepted their friend invite, thinking they want a easier way to see if im on for a trade. If that caused the hack, then thats the game's issue, not mine. You can't blame me for using something the game provided.

From other people they took currency, items or deleted accounts etc. In my case, they took my 5 Link Deathharp (which i think they know is a easy sell for 1-2 Exalts), my currency, Chain gem (easy 1 exalt) and dropped the ranger using them to SC. This happened within a 3 hour time slot where i logged off to do Homework, and all the post about account issues came up from or within that time slot. From what i can guess is, they had a few people running through accounts clearing stuff because each account was ransacked a different way = different people, and they did as fast as possible proved by their method.

So yea great, there are people that did you third party software, but you can't undermine the facts or statements of other people, if your going to do that, stay out of this since your clearly biased and on the same "level" of the people your bashing, since your also ranting.

I was a mod for a browser based game before I quit to allow more time for this game. Pockie pirates, a game operated by Game321, had a shit ton of security issues where people can log into other people account and wiping people of their character and gear. Yea some people lost shit because they were sharing account with random people, like my guild leader with other guild members, but the majority of the account breach was the company fault. Even after 1 month or 2 by now, they have yet to get it fixed.

Point of story is, yea there are issues caused by stupidity and inadequate precautions, but they doesn't rule out all possibilities for other causes.
