Death Penalties
What about a system like in Dungeon Fighter Online? Where you get a certain number of free Resurrections per day, let us say 5, that allows you to revive yourself or a party member if they die and continue the instance/dungeon run with your party. After those chances are up, every death of yours automatically kicks you back to the main hub world (if you were not resurrected by a party member in time), with your instance/party lost to you until they come back from the dungeon run.

That sounds very much like an MMO way of doing things, which GGG doesn't seem to like.
It's not a bad idea, but most casual players will probably just stop playing for the day after using their last free revive once they finish the instance they're in or die. |

" well good, I also like DFO's fatigue system that limits the number of dungeon runs you can do per day. People should go outside and do other things with their lives. Spending 5+ hours a day on any one thing should be discouraged, I feel. Even if the thing itself has to nudge you in the right direction. |

I'm unsure how I feel about lockouts. I think that it's probably a bad business practice, however it's socially a good thing... more than likely.
Economics usually determine behavior though, so I don't see them putting a cap on daily play time. If you have account problems please Email Support

" Ok, Ok, you win. :) (goes on to edit my post to say "6+ hours consecutively" and then returns to this post to fart on about mandatory breaks, and how I want to cut down on ways for people to procrastinate, and deter any addictive behavior like watching too much tv.) |

" Just to defend the target of this a bit... the mentality you posted with is actually a very recent advent of individualism in the last few decades of human history... spawned by technological advancement and a few decades of excess and disposable wealth. This really isn't the way that society has existed in the past, nor is it ideally the way that society will evolve. Individuality has some merit when it affects nobody else, however too much of that reduces accountability to the point where impulse control problems affect society as a whole. At that point a greater decision making body other than yourself is necessary... usually they come in the form of societal laws, typically derived from significant probabilistic issues of the whole. ie. at some point you must think about someone other than yourself. So you are in favour of dictating to me when I can and cannot engage in leisure activities? Should I ask you before I go to the toilet too?
