Death Penalties
" I appreciate the sentiment but it's best just to leave the argument go. Nothing has been said in this thread in the past month or two that hasn't been said twice before that. I think most of us are tired of rehashing the same talking points. Forum Sheriff

Here is a suggestion: When you die, you get back in town. The monster that killed you and all monsters around it in a considerable radius will not give you any exp anymore. Not even if you wait. You can try to skip them or kill them for items.
Edit: Actually on second thought, my idea is flawed. Because death should never be useful and within the borders of my suggestion one could die deliberately as means of quick travel. So I suppose the added inconvenience of having to retrieve a corpse would certainly address such issue. Alternatively exp gain could be disabled until a corpse is retrieved. |

@obscenerainbow- Sorry, shouldn't have said you don't use your brain. But you don't seem to understand the concept of discussing ideas. When someone brings up a valid point as to why an idea won't work, you don't call them trolls. Also, since you don't like to indirectly be called an idiot, do you think saying "think before you post" is any different?
@nopchar- people dont seem to like corpse runs. Someone has proposed this before, but I wouldn't be opposed to doing a corpse run to just get some exp back. No items will drop, just if you make it back to your corpse you get like 50% exp back that you lost. To make it a little more interesting, maybe move the monsters around your corpse closer to it to add some more challenge. |

I did'nt read the entire tread, because of it's 30 pages..lol but maybe I have something interesting about death penality. Hope it has not already be a discussed idea.
Lets say a "beast" monster killed you, your character gain fear (maybe 15% fear) about these creatures, so you will be more likely weak versus "beasts", until you kill enough of them to put % back to normal. I dont say normal is 0% because it is not true that a character has no fears, so a new created players could have like 75% fear for any monsters and fear drop slowly if you kill things or rise if you die. This way, teamwork will be really high. The more you play alone and die, the more likely you will fear anything. Maybe fear could be 50/50 for player and monsters, and maybe classified by type of monsters. So if they kill you, they will have less fear about you, and if you kill many of them, they will fear you. Discuss :) |

That is an interesting mechanic. I'll simplify it and call it 'Morale.'
If you die your Morale lowers... what that means would ultimately be up to the developers really, but it could do many things. Not dying could have positive morale. These types of systems have been discussed before, but this gives them a game-contexted name and statistic.
