[2.6] The Curse Whisperer - Tri-Curse CI Whispering Ice Elementalist - Viable for Everything
"Same as uber atziri' trio. 1. Kill ranged boss (avoid standing in rain) 2. Then kill dual-striker boss (probably wait until his Fire thorns turns off) 3. Then facetank cycloner boss outside of black pools "I've been playing around this tree and setup for a few hours, and looking for other versions of Poison firestorm builds as well. Found this one with this tree By the numbers his poison damage is over 2 times higher (with same gear and links, just without enfeeble and using different tree). Differences: 24% es lower, no Wicked Ward, have to use +1 curse ring, losing enfeeble (or spend 4 pts on curse cluster) Not saying it's superior option, but interested in your opinion. " Note to self: try leveling to 39 with Firestorm again. I tried Firestorm for leveling one of my first chars and it was terrible back then. I remember dying a lot to fast attackers. And then Freezing Pulse was so much safer that I never looked back. But maybe things have changed since then.
" It usually depends on the mods. VT Trio deals less raw damage and is more tankable than the Uber Trio (100% increased dmg mod in Alluring Abyss is no joke) but the mods can make it hurt. Bring the flasks to counter bleeding, physical and fire damage. If they get +cold or +lightning dmg mod then you need anti-chill/freeze and anti-shock flask. If there is EW, -maxres or added fire dmg then use the Purity of Fire setup. Try to kill the archer first, or at least not the last. Then the fire guy. Remember to cast on the adds. See the Boss Guide for Uber Trio. If you aren't well geared, dodge everything. Otherwise - have fun. Last edited by Kelvynn on Feb 24, 2017, 1:42:48 PM

Hello Kelvynn,
I have read the latest patch notes for the 2.6 Legacy Patch There will be a nerf to PYRE ring. How will this affect your build ? I have hav a lot of fun leveling after 39 It is indeed very powerful at mapping and clearing anything. Please tell me there is a sollution :( Best regards, - an enthusiast user of your build
" The pros and cons are pretty laid out. Assassin is a dps focused crit build while occultist has more survivability. Having played glass cannon builds in the past, I don't really favor them especially when that extra damage is overkill. The problem with cwc firestorm is that there's a fairly delayed ramp up. 0.35 seconds between casting wither and firestorm coming down and that period before cwdt warlord's mark pops where you're not leeching. It's not like a blade flurry build where you jump from pack to pack and obliterate everything before they can hit you. You're going to be hit and you need to survive it. You also need to run Oos-PCoC for generating power charges which can be annoying. I'm still as yet unsure how my remaining gem setups are going to be but I think having the slots for a wither totem might be needed because all these calcs are being done at 20 wither stacks but manually casting wither can only stack up to 13. |

" Came here cos of the same reason. We need to wait for detailed patch notes, we don't know how much it will be nerfed.
" Im not a expert at this game but if pyre is getting nerfed then all you would do is switch fire pen gem with cold pen gem and keep the same setup because mastermind of discord provides additional cold pen when you cast scorching ray right? And on the skill tree you would focus on cold damage instead. |
|
" Besides the fact that you lose the synergy with the debuff on Scorching Ray (and a lot of resists switching to Perandus Signet from Pyre), let's not forget this is a multi-class build, not just the Witch, so MMoD ain't gonna help a Templar or Marauder. :) Ideally, we'd have a "Freezing Beam" channeling skill as a cold counterpart so we didn't have to do the conversion in the first place. :) However, I suspect that Pyre won't be any worse than 50% conversion, and if that's true we keep using Pyre and then have the option of either spending two points for Avatar of Fire, or giving up a socket for Cold to Fire, or even both at certain points (using CtF at lower levels, then switching to AoF when the travel there isn't a big detour, getting near that part of the tree comes very late for the Marauder version, for instance). Finally, because AoE radius stacking is taking a hit this patch as well, it may work out that we don't benefit much from all the points currently spent on both Blast Radius and Amplify, which would make the two points needed for AoF a little easier to come by for all versions.
" Nope. Double-dipping into fire and cold is a massive DPS boost. If this build was using just cold damage it wouldn't be anywhere near as strong. |
