I would like to suggest that when someone is going to delete a race character they should get a popup message reminding them that it must not be deleted before they made sure they received their points correctly.
Since it would only be a popup message it should really be very easy to implement.
Its an easy solution to not make people that don't know the rule ( e.g. not every player especially new players read a rulebook on the forums before playing the game ). Read threw the thread and you see many many players who deleted their characters and thats a potential loss of disappointed players / customers for no good reason.
( I didnt delete my character but I am concerned about those who did and are so heavily disappointed by feeling betrayed by the game )
At least in the case of void league characters, a possible alternative could be that they cannot be manually deleted, but don't count towards your character limit. Just automate deleting them after all points are allocated, then that can't happen (obviously for characters moved to permanent leagues, this does not help). I do feel a little for those who deleted theirs so they were able to participate in other races.
Characters are moved to the void league for posterity purposes, not just so they can calculate the points for each race and award them. You can keep a voided character for as long as you want as long as you have a slot for it, and continue to link people to your profile for that character and link to its items on the forums, tied to the correct league or race (IIRC).
Making them automatically delete would be a bit contrary to the design of the parent league system in the first place.

Why would you delete your character before you get points? LOL. You must be the same people that use poe.trade and whisper someone saying "hi" , "I want to buy item" . Instead of using the whisper link on the website.
One thing has nothing to do with the other.
I didn't delete mine, but you can't really blame them because it is written "do not delete your characters until they have been moved to the permanent leagues.".
They were moved to void, so it should be safe to delete.

What it really comes down to, yaknow.. about the character deleting. Is that people better check themselves... before they wreck themselves....

If people have deleted their characters, we'll try to recover the information from logs. It's time-consuming but will hopefully be possible. Unfortunately because today is Sunday and tomorrow is an NZ public holiday, the earliest our server guys can investigate is Tuesday NZT. Sorry for the delay!
i didnt delete my char that made it the furthest (killed kaom/daresso) and don't have my points either.-this char did rip at piety though. just an fyi that its not just people who deleted their chars not getting their points. (havent read the whole thread so my apologies if this is redundant.)

Now 13 hours after the race, no points. Died at Dominus when the server threw me (epic, dead afterwards)
But well, should at least get reward points for boss kills,and also first full clear of one or two areas - but nothing so far :/ Hope it´s fixed soon, and YES my character still exists. This seems not to have anything todo with deleting them or not.
Got the rewards from another race right away now, it doesn´t even display that i did join the race.

as much as i love GGG and the game and i can completely understand a delay under these circumstances i would be ___VERY___ upset to not receive the points because this race was not fun for me personally. but i felt forced to do it anyway because of the freaking 100!!! points.

That is, you want to say that I absolutely have to write in a support, if I didnt get points? My character is still alive and I didnt delete it. Where are my points?
LOL. Why are you so impatient? There is roughly a month until the new leagues, and it would be pointless to break out any of the awards in Talisman/THC, or standard/HC. You afraid you wont get them? I mean, it's apparent everyone who participated in this race didn't get points for killing bosses, so I doubt they need emails from all of us to sort it out.

I also didn't get points. I killed Brutus (5pts), Merviel (5pts), and Vaal Oversoul (10pts), and my character didn't die. I Didn't get any points. Hope they award the points post-race!

Hmm, good point, I hadn't considered that. Thanks for pointing it out. :)
I think there would still be merit in them not counting towards your maximum, though (I'm assuming they do based on posts people have made within this thread).
