The Exiled Sale Recipe Book (spoilers)
" Then take a look at my post above with the screenshot. It's an item giving me 4 Alchemy shards for an item with 18% Item Rarity. According to the Vendor Recipes, it must be the maximum value of a mod to get 4 Alchemy shards, but the maximum value of the mods Raiding and Archaeology are 14% and 20% respectively. So either the recipe is wrong or my understanding of mods is. I think... IGN FuryOfLina

In that case I did not make myself clear Jack_Cookie.
I am saying that apart from the suffix item acquisition mods there are prefix item acquisition mods, namely: "Magpie's" with 8 to 12 %rarity, "Pirate's" with 13 to 18 %rarity "and Dragon's" with 19 to 24 %rarity. In the closed beta these mods were all worth 1 scrap of wisdom. I named them collectively "Prefix Item Rarity Acquisition Mods". After the open beta has started several changes has happened to the values and I suspect that these mods have now been promoted to be comparable to the suffix mods. I have not seen it on a blue item, nor have I seen if the same distinction between the first and the higher levels of the mods are split like the suffix versions which is why it is lacking from the list! I can see that you understand the concept of mods, but I suspect that you have missed the 3 prefix item acquisition mods which is part of what is causing the confusion. The other part of the confusion is the lack of specificity on rare items. You can get items where you cannot distinguish different mods from eachother. In this case it is especially problematic with prefix and suffix %rarity mods since they do not share the same intervals! *hint**hint* GGG :) I appear to be living in "Romance Standard Time". That has to be good! :) Last edited by radiatoren#0601 on Jan 31, 2013, 6:48:15 PM

Awesome, that clears it up then. For some reason I recalled thinking that there were only Rarity mods as Suffixes, not as a Prefix. That was kind of silly, but this makes more sense, thank you!

" Did not work for me, I tried with 5 rare gloves and 5 helmets also rare. I did not get anything out then normal orbs. |

The chaos orb recipe (1 of each armor slot, 2 rings, 1 amulet and either 2 1-handers, 1-hander +off hand or a 2-hander) doesn't seem to work. I tried it just now with various combinations of weapons, it just gave me a bunch of lower tiered orbs and shards.

" Dont know what you made wrong:
Spoiler
As shown, it even works mixed with unidentified items. I also tried successfully with a bow and with one axe and a shield - same result. I'm pretty sure I didn't forget anything, I'm going to try it again, with screenshot this time if it fails for me again.
EDIT: After trying again I figured out the problem: I was using 2 rings with the same rare name, and apparently the 'identical rare name = orb of chance' recipe takes precedence over the chaos orb recipe. Something to add, maybe, if it's not already in the original post? Last edited by Talvarr#6013 on Feb 3, 2013, 10:58:12 AM

I can't get it to work either -- it only comes up as 4 total Alteration Orbs.
