Orb of Augmentation
Recipe: Rare item with 6 mods
...Doesn't always work

It works, always. The only special fact to consider is that there are mods with 2 stats (like "armour and stun recovery" or "damage scaling and accuracy"); from this its not given that your rare with 6 lines has "really" the needed 6 mods.

The other recipe is not as bad as you might think. If you are a regen-marauder you rarely go for +accuracy support or wand-gem or a million other such gems. At some point you will have like 8 5-6% gems you do not need and if you cannot sell any of them to players, a GCP is worth a lot more to you.

But in this case wouldn't it be far more likely that everyone would simply save the gem for another character? That's what I would do at least.

Anyway... I've been playing around with these recipes and I noticed some things that need updating or further testing:
"

Orb of Augmentation
Recipe: Rare item with 6 mods (also unidentified)

Doesn't always work, specifically with low level weapons it seems. Also, I'm not really sure what the "(also unidentified)" part means. I'm pretty sure mods are created upon identifying an item, making it impossible for an unidentified item to have any relevance in this particular recipe.
"

Scrolls of Wisdom
Recipe: Whetstone
Reward: 2 Scrolls of Wisdom

Gives 4 Scrolls of Wisdom, actually.
"

Scrolls of Wisdom
Recipe: Full stack of orbs
Reward: 40 Scrolls of Wisdom

Did not work with a stack of Orbs of Augmentation or a stack of Orbs of Alchemy. Might have been confused with the basic Orb of Alteration and Orb of Transmutation trade values.

Thank you, sir!
I have removed the Full stack recipe untill people can be specific about what kinds of orbs are giving that amount.
The Whetstone is an old error. Thank you for noticing!
The recipe for Augmentation orb is unfortunately correct... I have gotten it twice with unidentified rares before and I have heard about others having the same experience. I say unfortunately because often, the value of 1/3 orb of transmutation and 1/2 orb of alteration are usually worth more than an orb of Augmentation.
A lot of the values in the trading-system has been improved for 0.9.9, but there are still a few "less desirable features" in it.
I appear to be living in "Romance Standard Time". That has to be good! :)

Hey guys i found out how to get alchemy shards. If you sell an item with 3 linked green sockets and a blue socket (stand alone) you get alchemy shards.

Something tells me the item had a MF Mod.
I still wish that the sale price of things could have some equivalency. Such as 1 orb of transmutation, OR 5 scrolls of portal + 5 Scrolls of Wis. Just sayin.

One need not base the economy on post it notes, although that IS the case now, but the Boolean nature of trades can be irksome.

Fruthermore, why is that a necklace granting +30% mana regen is the same cost as one giving 19% regen? Each is one orb of trans I think. Shouldn't one be an orb plus like, a few of those orbs of alteration?
Small clarification/addition to this:

"

Recipe: 5 Items of the same type and of magic or unique rarity
Reward: 1 New Item of that type & Rarity (not identified) with a "random" number of sockets
Finder: ChickenNwaffles

It works on rare items too.

(5x rare Dream Mace gives 1x unidentified rare Dream Mace)

Does anyone know if this recipe...

"

Recipe: 1 rare, 1 magic and 1 normal of same base type and with 20% quality
Reward: 1 Orb of Alchemy
Finder: Phowl

...gives 2 Orbs of Alchemy if both the rare & magical items are unidentified?

Yes, which was mentioned just a few posts after the one you quoted.

A set of prefix mods has entered my awareness. The prefixes have equivalent suffixes. However, the valuation of the suffixes are very different from the valuation of the prefixes.

It is a little problematic for the ability to predict the sale-value or reroll-value of especially uniques if they can occur on the same items.

The prefixes are item aquisition mods and so far I have only observed them on belts where at least "magpies" is worth nothing.

Do they all have to be of the same rarity?

I tried with five iron rings, four magic and one rare, without success.
