Explosive Arrow Marauder (Updated for Release)
Hmm, the guide on exilepro suggested we can use a level one wrath gem for our off-element damage, but ever since I hit merciless I noticed my 1-2 lightning damage ring sometimes doesn't proc Elemental Equilibrium, especially against enemies with high resist. I started proccing it regularly again when I changed rings to a 1-33 damage ring (with worse stats... natch).
I believe if there's enough resistance and the damage effectiveness of the attack is low enough, small amounts of damage can be reduced to zero. This is just my observation though. IGN: Ikimashouka, Tsukiyattekudasai, DontCallMeMrFroyo

bumping up this thread. i am trying out this build. not bad..actually i do not have much problem so far. i am lvl 63 now. my complains,
1) "running around" mobs. those that dont stay in group. e.g. monkeys, those ghosts in dock, etc etc. because..when u stack 5 fuses on 1 mob...it runs away...and others are not hit. it will be chaotic if every mobs run around..and u will take loonnngggg time to kill. 2) single target bosses. esp. those with fire resist + life regen. (i do not have any problem with reflect so far. just do not stack 5.) i find it difficult to kite these bosses...when u need to "point" your cursor to them..and hit them...when u are running around with no mobs to regain HP via LOH. for me..its almost impossible to solo oak. he jumps around and its difficult to stack 5 on him while kiting to avoid his hits. anyway...this is my video at lvl 49. as according to this build. http://www.exilepro.com/builds/marauder/518-marauder-explosive-arrow-elemental-equilibrium me --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8jLiW-0ozY and now...i tweaked the build to my playstyle. i use these gems and items. GMP for faster kills. really..i feel that i grind faster. and much easier VS single targets..as i do not need to aim at them. i just spray my arrows and kite. wait for them to explode and burn DOT while i kite. because i picked GMP...i skipped EE. i took more burning nodes too. my vid, tree and items. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQdpxnC4Hdo http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgEBAnEDxgSzBS0GDgn2DjwOrRJpFCAUTRRxFm8XHBjbGS4ZhRo4GlUabBznIPAhYCSqJa0n7SlPKaU26DbpOlI62ECgQapDnETnTdhQR1BQVElVxlfiWGNZ818_YEthIWP9ZKNqHmo7cXlyqXTtdPF673zZgW-DOITvjHaMz49GkFWdrp48nrmiAKcIpzCnhKgYrKq53cAaxtjPZdDQ2WHfv-Nq5CLnUuw47w7wH_Iv8932SPcy-Os= ign: ashcrow_ Last edited by ashbird82#5095 on Mar 28, 2013, 1:46:43 AM

I guess as a point of comparison, I'll post what I have. Level 76 currently and having a blast with the build. At around 4.3k hp and my only complaint is when I face the same BS that everybody who plays this game faces - namely desyncing into a pack of chargers/flcker strikers and dying before getting a chance to respond.
I think in general the major problem with this build is going to be fire resists. I'm only running 4ls so I have to make do without fire penetration, but I make up for it with much higher single-target damage and by having a much higher attack speed, making it easy to get 5 stacks and then switching to my life-on-hit skill. Increased AoE mitigates the issues with running enemies as I can generally get an entire pack with a single explosion, and my burn damage is high enough to get them in one or two hits. Hi,
I am playing this build for some time now, I did dozens of maps, ranging lvl 66 to lvl 72, all self found. The build is effective, you just have to learn how to play it. I die some times, but from desync mostly. Stun is sometimes a problem when ending in a middle of a pack - melee habit, but easy to fix with 1 point in skill tree, if I find it really necessarily (if I'm to lazy to kite). Now to give answers to the threads above and others: 1. Use Shock wave totem, which groups all running monsters/mob, so your AOE explosions affect almost all of them. You may wanna ditch the chance to flee gem if you don't like things running crazy all over the area. 2. Bosses that have leach/vitality aura/life regen/have increased speed - Concentrate on damage nodes. Don't use GMP, you increase a lot the damage by using Concentrated effect gem instead. 3. For the thread above, you chosed pointless resist nodes. You only need those 2 Diamond skin from marauder/duelist trees. Compensate with gear, you only need life/resist gear, and nice value for armor/evasion on body, that's it. You can easy max the values. I also tweaked my build and found that with few different points, I gain nice damage/life. In Duelist tree and Templar tree are the changes I made. Avoided the Armor/ES pack of nodes from Templar tree - ES is low/useless. Took Evasion/armor from Duelist, much better option because I needed that route AND I took Iron Reflexes. Math says that a good combo is Armor/Evasion instead of just Armor. ES doesn't help this build a bit. In Duelist I took speed to have less constrains on gear swap, took that nice 8%/12% projectile damage. 4 more Life nodes are just 1 dex point away. Avoided those life nodes in duelist tree near Duelist start point, I don't want to chose any useless nodes (mana, arena). Instead of using 1 point in crap node, I prefer to go other routes, in the end the gain is higher. lvl 80: - 5.5 k life - max resits (depends on gear swap, now Cold res got only 6x) - nice damage (many times I don't even have to curse Flammability in lvl 72 maps) As a mention to this nice damage, for Elemental Reflect, just don't stack that many arrows and you'll be fine. In a map with Elemental reflect mode, what truly shines is the chance to ignite and elemental equilibrum. - Avoid temporal chain maps, that's really a drag for this build My passives: |

Have to say one of the best most underrated specs ive tried thought id share with you only really get outkilled by well geard LA heroes
Trying to up the quiver and the neck but the rest is nice sit just under 8k HP with capped resists regen pays the 160 odd life at 6 shots a second so pretty happy with the spec EDIT: To all those asking about single target when in a group im a bro and curse ele weakness not flammability and for single target bosses that dont die in like 1 volley + burn i generally swap up LMP For Faster Projectiles and then double curse ele weakness/flammability with a double curse ring swap Last edited by kilikai#4051 on Apr 1, 2013, 5:44:27 AM

lol kilikai. thanks for your pm. I want your bow!!! lol. sorry keeping my items because I am loving this build. :)
I wonder if carcass jack or kaom heart is better. 1 is dps & 1 is survivability. but the price diff is vast! I am saving up for a kaom though. ign: ashcrow_

Tbh if your using bm I feel kaoms is a massive winner it's like near on 3 k health and with roughly 5% regen talented for me it was a no brainier pays to allow dropping life leech in ur explosive arrow supports
