Immortal Flesh Builds

I had an Immortal Flesh drop for me a while back and I just upgraded it to the new and improved version with a Divine:

Now the question is: what do you do with this thing? I feel like it has potential, but you probably need Saffell's Frame to make it worthwhile (I really miss Elemental Adaptation).

Can you get enough life regen with this belt to use Saffell's Frame instead of Rise of the Phoenix in a Righteous Fire build?

Maybe start as a Marauder, take lots of life/regen nodes, some block nodes, and make a one-handed Molten Strike build with Doryani's Catalyst and Belly of the Beast? Although that doesn't make use of the spell damage on Saffell's Frame...

Vendor and buy a rare Leather belt with 90 life roll and 2-3 resi rolls. -5 max not worth the regen and -50 phys damage.

Definitely this. An RF marauder even *with* rise of the phoenix will be a piece of trash while wearing this belt. You're trading 5 fire resistance for 1% regen. That's not even remotely balanced at the resistances you aim for while playing RF.

I used to use one with a budget MF character where all I did was white 66 maps and Piety =p

So I think it has a niche if all you need is enough toughness to stand weak easy maps, for purposes of magic find, for example, then it's a great item. Not many belts will give you increased rarity and this item will simulate better defenses for you while you have a bunch of cheapo mf gear on.

It works!
My poisonarrow scion is using ondars+acro+phase acro+ atziri step AND CoD+AA(no EB, but 240 Mana reg, and 700 unres Mana without it... Its way too far for my only 190 ES) AND immortal flesh on the top(stacks with AA, mana regen helps maintain AA/MoM, life Regen helps me skip any regen on pasive tree... and that +100 life)... Pair it with high movn speed, high range and PsnArrow-iddle-dps makes it damn tanky even with only 70/71/70 res... I am sc Player and i die sometimes, but definately 99% of those deaths are purely my mistake

in addition i use lvl1CwDT-SummonSkell-SummonZomb-SummonSpec they do die fast but the live long enough to draw agro off me, and with just lvl1 CwDT they are apearing all the time

also using Vaal grace-Vaal summin skell-inc duration as a panic/strongbox-lag skills

doing 76-77 maps, Olmecs, Poorjoys with 2-2.5exa gear(still no Drillneck and empower)

also with PsnArrow both reflects are joke ;)

the only real downside is no LifeLeach works good with PsnA, but i handle it with TornadoS-GMP-LMP-LGoH, insta life boost with both packs and bosses, and can be spammed while Psn debuff is doing its job

immortal flesh has one big problem- the max resist reduction is so huge in PoE none of the stats are worth it. even if it had 30% increased damage on it and 500 armour on it...it still wouldnt be used

whats weird is that balance team knows and understands the impact of max res on characters. theyve removed EA from the tree for that reason. yet IF had that laughable -10 penalty and now its still pretty much unusable in endgame.

if they want IF to be usable, you have to have -2 max res at absolute worse imo. or even -1. thats a way more fair tradeoff.

as far as RF, it will never be usable as long as it has the penalty. thats fine though, because its just one build.
The only real use for Immortal Flesh is, countintuitively, as an offensive belt.

The flat mana regen is by far the most important mod on the item. It can assist Clarity or, depending on the build, even replace Clarity (in which case it would free up mana for a possibly different aura reservation).

The downside is a monster, though. -5max is rough for any build.
Use it on a ci character with the "25% of elemental damage is taken on chaos resistance" armor.(forgot its name atm)

In that case it actually makes the modifier of that chest stronger, since your taking more elemental damage the % converted to chaos increases and the efficiency goes up.

And it gives some cool regen and flat mana regen, might be possible to make a ci char with AA and that could be pretty strong.

It would be a weird build to say the least.

Peace,

I always liked that belt, but the -10% max all res was a big no (at least for HC). The -40% res, while really harsh was at least justifiable (a huge downside for the awesome stats it provided, the way ALL uniques should be) and manageable. Instead of removing the -max res mod completely, GGG reworked it in the current state. Dunno, sometimes they seems to lack any kind of balanced thinking.

to be fair, -40% res is a very binary thing
with crappy gear, it IS a huge downside

with very good gear and in endgame, it is no downside at all. overcapping resists is usually somewhat trivial in the endgame. at worst if you have a super unique-heavy build you'll run a purity. eh so what ?

I dont mind the -max resist penalty, but it has to be realistic. -10 is a joke. so is -5.
