Mechanics thread

Hello,

a question maybe asked thousand times: how do elemental and chaos resistances system works?

-1:If I got 50% fire resistance and I'm touched by 100 Fire Ball Dmg, I ll get 50 Dmg?
-1bis: Same example: I got also 300 Energy Shield. Fire Ball will hurt ES with 50 Dmg? xxx see Edit below

-2:I wear gloves with "+25% lightning resistance", so I get +25%? Or is it "+25% of something" relatde to Lightniong Dmg?

Thanks for your help.
I'm about to reach Merciless difficulty, and I guess Resistance is a bit weak.

EDIT: I found posts concerning this point. If you have any interesting infos/link, feel free, please :) I'm a bit lost for the moment.

Energy Shield
FIRST POST OF THIS THREAD
Energy Shield acts as an additional hit point pool on top of life. If you have any Energy Shield remaining when you take damage, the damage is subtracted from the Energy Shield first. Damage is only applied to life once all Energy Shield is depleted. The exception to this is Chaos Damage, which ignores Energy Shield.

At lvl 1 raise spectre says -40% damage
minion damage says +45% damage right below it

Does this mean a total of +5% or is it +45% of the value that's given at -40%?
As in 60%*1.45 = 87%

Any resistance X% will block X% incoming related damage. That's all.
You have 80% Fire Resist, hit by Fire Train that deals 1000 damage. 800 is blocked, 200 is yours to take.
Resists are lowered with difficulty and some skills.
Same thing, if you have -80% Fire Resist, that Train will owe you 1800 dmg.

Related to spectres question. Almost all mods AFAIK are multiplicative (except for MORE spell damage, that's additive).
Base creature had 100~200 dmg.
You raise it, it is a spectre that has 40% lowered dmg, now it deals (100~200)*(1-0.4) damage.
You own it, and it is a minion (45% increased dmg) so it deals (100~200)*(1-0.4)*1.45 = 87~174
Hateful post.

So I have a question that can hopefully be answered here. Is there anyway to increase the physical damage dealt by "thorns" or return physical damage to melee attackers stat, or to the punishment gem?
Need help again. Couldn't find myself.
Will Redbeak Rusted Sword increase Righteous Fire damage to me, when I'm on low life?
Hateful post.

What about the "when on low life"-mods ?
When you reserve more than 65% of your health, do they count as activated ?
Yes. If more than 65% of your life is reserved, then your current life value is always less than 35% or your maximum life, which means you're on low life.
well this means i can't be exactly 65% hp reserve, i'll have to have +1hp from whatever that value is to be "low life" =/... my build is now sad.
Stupid me, i should have asked this HERE in the first place... Now i made a new thread...

Well, my questions are:

1 ) How is evasion affecting the evasion entropy. In Marks example i miss the evasion build into.
2 ) From what i have seen about the armour graphs i would guess that investing in more than 3500- 4000 armour is a waste of points that could go into other stats?
3 ) Is also for the player the accuracy rating important to confirm a critical hit?

Thanks in advance!

Hello there.

I'm planning a Righteous Fire + Pain Attunement build right now, and I have some questions for you to answer, please!
1) If I have 65% of my life reserved via Blood Magic Auras, will it count as I am on low life constantly?
2) If I have 65% of my life reserved via Blood Magic Auras, will be Righteous Fire damage (based on maximum life) reduced?

Sorry for bad English as always.
Best wishes.

Yes and No respectively.
Stun Threshold Reduction - diminishing return

When calculating Stun with Stun Threshold Reduction of over 75%, the Stun Threshold Reduction is treated as being:

75 + ( Stun Threshold Reduction - 75) * 25 / ( Stun Threshold Reduction -50 )

instead.

So if your stun threshold is 50, it would be 25/0 ???
How would you calculate this then?
PM me on forums first.
