Lord of the Dead. (Witch Summoner Build) Updated 2.0 patch

Well... spectres are the same lvl as the mob it came from so yeh it kinda does matter if it's lvl 10 or lvl 50!

That said.... about spectres.

If you guys have not tried the "Unrighteous Fire" mobs from Lunaris 2 and Lunaris 3 floors. try them. They burn every enemy that comes close to them for incredible damage (they don't need to attack which solves AI issues) - i literally run through an area, they run behind me and there's nothing but ashes left.

Seriously!

PS: For their Aura to start they need to land 1 successful hit on an enemy. After that it keeps burning till you leave the area.

Grab the Health one, Kill the rest.

Over flame sentinels? I did try tentacle miscreations which work great but flame sentinels are still my favorite. I'll look for the righteous fire ones.
I'm curious why you skip that 1% health regen in the Templar tree. I know it's not much but often in your streams you go periods where you're missing a bit of health and don't pot for a while and your health just sits there doing nothing, when it could have regened itself with that one point.

IMO especially if you go back to EB, losing that quick ES regen for small hits is one of the most annoying things about EB builds, that's why I think I may even run Vitality on top of that 1% in the Templar tree. ~30% health recovered every 10secs.

And also, that 1% health regen is one of the unique things about the Templar area (the Body & Soul stuff is pretty wasted on EB builds), if you don't want to pick it up, EB people are probably better off getting the 9x health nodes near the middle of the tree (with 3x 12%) instead.

Same here, I have a hard time taking anything but the Flame Sentinels...you get 3 or more of them with Lesser or Greater Multiple Projectiles, and they just mow motherf*&^ers down like crazy.

Ok that makes sense. Truth be told, I was not very impressed with my zombie and spectre damage output and survivability vs bosses and started using a combination of self-cast skeletons and a firestorm totem to deal with them. Piety and Oak were particular problems, General Gravicius slightly less, but being able to summon skeletons anywhere I wanted (IE spread out) was a big advantage, keeping the boss occupied elsewhere and having a nonstop stream of bombs and automatic firestorm augmented by a wand with lots of +spell and +fire damage.

It's by no means the ideal way to do it, but when you're still fairly low level and don't have good gear or gems you do what you have to do. I didn't even get my first curse till yesterday, and quickly found another (vulnerability and temporal chains, only two I have but they work nicely) and they along with 3 flame sentinels, a skeleton totem, life leech for spectres and zombies, two good flasks with minion healing and finally some good socket connections instantly upped my killing power immensely. Got most of that yesterday too, so before that I was relying on skeleton bombs.

Question: Does fire penetration work with minion instability?

Honestly, i wouldn't even use summons until level 40 or 50. Until you get all the right nodes and gear, they don't do much damage and die incredibly fast. Get yourself a 3 or 4 link Searing Touch Long Staff (useable at lvl 13), stick Fireball (preferably high quality) + LMP + Faster Casting + Increased Crit Dmg into it and you can quite literally get to level 50 using nothing but Fireball. The +2 to Fire gems in the staff is WAY overpowered and you'll be 1-2 shotting everything. If you use Ele Weakness on top of it, it's even more ridiculous. Once you get into the 40s, switch to summons.

The advantage they have over flame sentinels is the fact they kill mobs just by being around. My issue with most spectres is the fact the AI is lazy and likes standing around doing nothing a lot of times. The disadvantage is the fact they lose out on the range. I use sentinels sometimes too but i dislike the fact they are quite big and they feel kinda slow :P

Oh and, it is "Unrighteous Fire" not Righteous, it doesn't actually burn the Burned Miscreation :)

I googled and it seems someone already mentioned it earlier: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/77161

fantastic discussions and several really nice looking builds in this thread.

especially interested in comparing the differences between blacksheep's and mattc's builds.

very similar for the summoning part of the build but very different in your approach for survival.

blacksheep, you look to be building for very high resists while matt is taking a LOT more health nodes. are you meeting more in the middle due to differences in gear, e.g. blacksheep looking for +hp on gear instead of through the passives?

still very low level witch but looking forward to playing a summoner build.

thanks again to everyone for all the constructive information in here
how this build work on hc?
