I don't want to go double spell totem skeletons, but on piety cruel i could not effectively stack up skeletons to fight her, I died with her at about 30% and i shouldn't of died (she threw two lighting balls towards me and I paniced with low health and died).. but I was mainly getting 2-4 and then the totem was dying. I ddon't want to be crippled using skeleton totem but it was virtually impossible to heal my zombies and spectres and they died so fast

that was using a minion health and hyrbrid flask.

Also, wouldn't be ideal to just use something like firestorm with elemental weakness+flammablity? Or fireball.. that would mean the pets and the actual summoner are dealing almost true damage to any enemy. I was using arc with static blows previously

my gem set up was

spectre>LMP>minion damage
summon skeleton>spell totem>faster casting
summon zombies>minion life>minion damage>minion speed
purity>clarity>reduced mana


What difficulty where you playing on and what level where you?


i was level 55 fighting piety on cruel. I think the biggest issue I was using mainly freezing pulse which does no damage far away, i was using it because my quality arc was only like leve8 and pulse waas level 13 or so. The big problem was i had a minion health flask and minion hybrid flask, yet my spectres still died very fast even when in range of my purity.
Heres a tip to fighting piety on all difficulties. Open a portal. Summon all zombies and spectre , run in than skeleton totem. Cast elemental weakness. She will blow up your minions really fast dealing tremendous damage. When most or all of your zombies die portal out gather more minions near another way point and repeat till dead.

This method is usually very safe since at the slightest chance of danger u portal out.

Do you guys recommend sticking with flame sentinels from normal difficulty once you've reached cruel? There's no act 1 mob that comes close to them, but they're from normal so I don't know if they'd be gimped like with reduced life, resistances etc. because they're from an easier difficulty. I'm used to Diablo 2 where going from normal to nightmare, or nightmare to hell, is a pretty big difference, and your pets scale up considerably to handle it.
I went through act 1 cruel to fast to tell you, you'll find some mobs inside the prison that will have LMP fire balls or ice attacks that are good enough. You really don't need to worry much until your doing harder stuff.
Running in to a bit of confusion, It looks like you where going dual totem at first (judging by the comments on the first few pages) but your builds no longer include AB? Also do you use any offensive spells or does your mana pool not allow you due to the auras?

Builds change and evolve. I mean i thought dual curses was a dumb idea towards the start of this thread. Now I praise dual curses as the most godly node for dps increase.

Arc is arguably the best spell for summoners. The range and chaining affect with +10% chance to shock is incredible. Combine this with static blows and chance to shock with arc connected to faster casting + elemental proliferation gets you increase your total minion damage by 40% per stack. Along with dual curses decreases their resist you got some very deadly minions. Am clearing maps no problem. In a build like this you have to rely on your minions unless you spec into something like voidmoon's Heavy arc summmoner build.

I'm noticing this build getting stronger and stronger as I level, but I stopped using summon skeleton with a spell totem. I like using skeletons as mobile bombs and as forward "scouts", casting two every so often up ahead or near a doorway. With a totem I not only lose control over where I can summon them, but the totem keeps overwriting the old ones and their potential as bombs is seriously lowered.

I also find it a lot more difficult to take on bosses like Oak when they're used with a spell totem. I find it better to attach firestorm to a spell totem and then alternately hide behind a building and cast a totem from one end then run to the other and cast skeletons, constantly alternating back and forth while remaining behind the building.

Anyone else find skeletons more useful when self cast? It costs more mana but there's so much more control.

Nice Build! I´m using it and i´m on lvl 61 now.
I always take the flame sentinels as spectres.

Which spectres have you taken in the last videostream? named "level 75 Summoner Witch - Farming Docs" and why does all your enemys burn??

And which spectres do you think are the best for the strait dense maps like dungeons?
I often have problems there or it takes along time to clean the map.
