I'm noticing this build getting stronger and stronger as I level, but I stopped using summon skeleton with a spell totem. I like using skeletons as mobile bombs and as forward "scouts", casting two every so often up ahead or near a doorway. With a totem I not only lose control over where I can summon them, but the totem keeps overwriting the old ones and their potential as bombs is seriously lowered.

I also find it a lot more difficult to take on bosses like Oak when they're used with a spell totem. I find it better to attach firestorm to a spell totem and then alternately hide behind a building and cast a totem from one end then run to the other and cast skeletons, constantly alternating back and forth while remaining behind the building.

Anyone else find skeletons more useful when self cast? It costs more mana but there's so much more control.

Summon Skeleton + Totem + Faster Casting is bar none the most overpowered mechanic in the game given the investment. That's whether you are a summoner or not.
Just wanted to say...

Thank you mate, for posting this build.

I was just soloing to merc piety and wondering if I should bother trying to down her by myself. I thought, heck i'll just give it a shot.

She died in literally 15 seconds or less.

Cheers mate, /bow.

I actually just got faster casting and will be trying that. What makes faster casting worth it though? I seem to not run out of skeletons, in fact the totem winds up continually casting and replacing the oldest ones. I'm still only in cruel though so maybe that makes a difference.

I'm just worried about them not exploding if they're casting faster.

I wouldn't even bother using summon skeletons if it wasn't on a totem. The whole point of using them this way is to either lock down a boss/rare or just keep other mobs occupied while you and your spectres do the damage. If you are using summon skeletons as your primary damage then you are completely missing the point of why you stick them with totem/faster casting.

Nice Build! I´m using it and i´m on lvl 61 now.
I always take the flame sentinels as spectres.

thx for helping me :)

"
Which spectres have you taken in the last videostream? named "level 75 Summoner Witch - Farming Docs" and why does all your enemys burn??

Tentacle Miscreation - Lunaris - level 2-3 - Fire, try them out with the spectre set gems on the main page.

"
And which spectres do you think are the best for the strait dense maps like dungeons?
I often have problems there or it takes along time to clean the map.

I'v tried a method that i have created called "dragging", it can be dangerous but since i dont run EB anymore its fine.

Spectres:
Burning Miscreations - Lunaris - Fire - Casts Unrighteous Fire

Benefits:
They cast Unrighteous Fire and are melee mobs.

So now lets talk about dragging:

Objective: Get to the other side of the room.

What happens when i achieve this:
As Burning Miscreations are melee mobs they will follow you closer compared to range mobs, which in turn when you run to the other side of the room(running through mobs) they will follow you and cast unrighteous Fire killing most mobs in <2 seconds. Another reason i try to get behind the enemy mob is that something(alot of the time) your spectres will get caught in the room beforehand so what this does is that when your spectre gets to far away from you it will teleport next to you.

Anyone reading this: For like the past 5 levels i'v been using EB, but have turned it off, died way too many times than i should have, I need to wait and get more health nodes.

Will add this to the main page. +1
Quick question.. For the Bandit quest which do I choose? Do I kill them all or leave a wanna alive and which one??
My friend is using this build and when it lagged his computer, he will get killed pretty quick in the end-game map which has those fast chaos snake / chaos dogs

Should be able to work on survivability, since those uniques give almost nothing on ES and midnight bargain will reserve a portion of HP.

Ok that makes sense. Truth be told, I was not very impressed with my zombie and spectre damage output and survivability vs bosses and started using a combination of self-cast skeletons and a firestorm totem to deal with them. Piety and Oak were particular problems, General Gravicius slightly less, but being able to summon skeletons anywhere I wanted (IE spread out) was a big advantage, keeping the boss occupied elsewhere and having a nonstop stream of bombs and automatic firestorm augmented by a wand with lots of +spell and +fire damage.

It's by no means the ideal way to do it, but when you're still fairly low level and don't have good gear or gems you do what you have to do. I didn't even get my first curse till yesterday, and quickly found another (vulnerability and temporal chains, only two I have but they work nicely) and they along with 3 flame sentinels, a skeleton totem, life leech for spectres and zombies, two good flasks with minion healing and finally some good socket connections instantly upped my killing power immensely. Got most of that yesterday too, so before that I was relying on skeleton bombs.

Question: Does fire penetration work with minion instability?

Does it matter what difficulty your getting your spectres at? Anytime I get a spectre from norm difficulty, it seems to instantly die when i run a map.
