PvP Manifesto Post and Patch Notes Teaser

Since the first minutes of playing this game it has been very clear to me that GGG tries to enforce complex active gameplay mechanics that requires thinking and strategy and not a game where everybody teleports around wearing enigma sending flying hammers demolishing anything with a single button. This patch is a step into a better direction.

Huh?

1.) PoE is already one-skill spam combat, this has been enforced by GGG through specialisation since OB (1 year+). D3 has more complex combat than PoE (on average you use more active skills than in PoE).

2.) CWDT-like reactive gems introduced in 1.3 are not 'active' or 'strategic', they are passive and automatic. Which will further make PoE combat 1-skill braindead spam (because of limited sockets)

E:

CWDT setup, aura setup, reactive gem setup.... aaand you are left with 1-skill (on 6link) aoe spam.

Counter attack skills seems very lackluster (from a Incinerate players perspective) as I assume they will use your weapon as a base for the attack.
i dont think "your" frickin incinerate op-under-1-ex build needs further buffs.
On the other hand, melee has been the scapegoat of poe for quite some time. It deserved the buff.

a developer-designed passive tree and set of magic items that can't be traded, modified or removed from the character. These preconstructed characters are a great start if you want to jump right into PvP, but are designed to encourage you to replace their gear to improve their viability against strong non-preconstructed PvP builds.

Sooo.. you want us to replace their gear, but we are not able to take off their gear? whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
Incinerators are casters. They don't need a weapon, they don't need anything in their hands. Why would they be counter striking?

The gems are counter STRIKE. You don't counter someone with a defensive move. If people want more defensive options... ask for them. Counter strikes are for damage, block/parry/dodge then attack back.

If you look at 1.2 builds on the forums you have players with-
max block
max spell block
dodge
spell dodge
evasion
arctic armor
lightning coil
CWDT + EC + IC + inc duration

All on one character...

In OB people often chose IR or acrobatics/evasion or block or CI, we've gotten spoiled.

I'm surprised people haven't discussed the defensive use for counter striking yet either. Leech. Two handers that get hit have a chance to counter, with vaal pact and life leech they might heal back to full immediately. With endurance charge on stun they could get one if they hit hard enough. Using the other two gems, with only 50% block that means half the time you take no damage and can hit them back with a leeching attack to heal up or cast on melee kill or cast on crit. Hmm counterstrike + leech + CoC + EK... double healing on proc...

I believe all the casters complaining about the counter attack skills believed counter ATTACK skills would be COUNTER SPELL skills. They probably haven't been playing the game for very long, because ATTACK skills don't function like SPELL skills.

You know the saying about when you assume things.

And you think making melee sacrifice something for counter-strike gems will be the buff they need?

Since not so long there's only one-source applied leech. So if u leech from main attack and it gives more - it will be the only source. And how do u think will counter attacks leech more than main attack?

No, I think he purposefully pointed out the correlation to how suddenly popular Jah Ith Bering your armour with Blink Arrow and then using Blessed Hamm-Tornado Shot is going to become.

That, and pointing out the irony of a complaint in D2 that everyone had Enigma and just blinked around, saying how GGG is conscious of this, MEANWHILE ignoring yet another skill that lets players blink around.

inb4 ts nerf and skills that have cooldowns? You maybe didn't know this but lightning warp's resolve time is tied to movement speed so it's very far from a blinking your way to the end boss in 3 seconds. The new bow skills seem more like an attacking decoy totem. Go ahead and ignore everything else so you can get your dose of irony/sarcasm/shitposting.

They deserved survivability buff. No melee players in hc not because of not enough dmg - there's not enough survivability. But they got block nerf, gz them!
