I have a low tolerance for individuals who like to make blanket statements about things they don't understand, but I apologize to those who are just looking for answers on what happened to their accounts. As I've said before, I think it's probably a phishing attempt, as I've seen a couple links floating around the forums, mostly in the class forums asking for people to "rate this build" and then a link to a site that looks identical to this one. It's hard to diagnose because if you got tricked, you obviously don't know it, but it sucks for sure.

These comments are a lot like the "session ID hijacking" scare near the release of D3. Similarly, I was an ass in explaining to people it wasn't techinically feasible (Not saying that it's impossible that GGG got hacked... but it's far more unlikey, and they specifically said they haven't). It is extremely irritating when people spread misinformation. GGG is a pretty small company, and has been extremely transparent so far with their development process. I like to believe that if their was a massive breach on their side, they would have told us already, or at the very least, wouldn't have outright lied.

Just to put your phishing theory to bed after my items went missing was the 2nd time I even went to the PoE website (or additionally any site that would look like it: never even been to a build website) and the first was to DL the game, the second being to post about lost items.

Assuming you are telling the truth, that still isn't absolute proof. You could have compromised your account any number of ways, through your email, another game site, the possibilities are limitless, and that's all just for phishing.

Im aware of what phishing is, and as you can rea din my first post I barely use my gaming computer for anything other than gaming, I have a laptop set up for even most of my internet searches, I run netflix on a second monitor while I play. Even then I'm also very careful where I go only open emails from recognized names and pay very close attention to where links are directed to.

While im not saying that it is completely impossible that I was phished it is however extremely improbable.

I have not been hacked (yet :p), but I read through this thread and would like to point out the following observation (even though I lack any relevant IT related knowledge regarding account compromisation):
