Live preparation of 1.2.0 patch notes

What we will never know: who would have been here crying (metaphorically) because GGG nerfed Acuity but kept legacy copies floating in the market. Those who would have complained that Uber Atziri is the big bad and that defeating her should yield at least a chance at the same amazing gear as before. Who would have given GGG shit for trying to balance an item that never should have existed.

What we do know: it would have happened. There were always going to be (metaphorical) tears.

What I suspect: there would have been a lot more.

But...we'll never know.

Looking forward to Ascending in PoE2...someday.

So the major issue still hurting the game is the performance, I have a new mid-high range computer and in full parties in end game maps I still drops to 10 fps.. surely this has to be made a priority at some point..

I wonder if our moderators are supposed to be so antagonistic?

He is not a forum moderator (the title is a legacy title), and there is always a report button.

People always look so bored when they drive Ferraris anyway. As though they're not quite as utterly happy as they thought they'd be with it.

I recall reading a study, a longer while ago, that showed that most people's perceived requirement for fulfillment and "happiness" is dynamic and always a bit outside of what they have, regardless of how much they have. Someone making 500 a month believes that if they made 1000, it would fix all their problems and they would be content. Someone making 5000 a month believes that 7500 would solve all difficulties, etc.

There is also a philosophical term for it: hedonistic adaption. Regardless of what someone has, there is always something new just outside of reach that promises to bring satisfaction. When these desires come true, usually after much struggle, they quickly lose appeal and attraction, and something new becomes the focus. The Stoics (the Roman flavor) realized that too, and they suggested the technique of visualizing the loss of the things (and people) one has in order to regain the lost appreciation for them. (I don't subscribe to negative visualization having benefits, however.)

Damn good point. And...I'm happy with what I have. Could be less, could be more. It is enough.

Like I said, I bring that sentiment to games. I know I'm lucky to do so. I wish more people could, but I understand why they can't.

you act like there are only two ways to approach this: either keep them as they are, or create a legacy version.

this is false. here are some other things that could have been done:

1) buff vaal pact, and/or move it closer to the CI area
2) buff leech rate in general
3) retroactively nerf all acuities like what happened with CoE
4) add a cap to "instant leech" to reduce it's effectiveness (basically, nerf the mechanic)

etc

that's AT LEAST four other ways it could have been approached, and i'm sure there are many other ways as well.

This was always my no.1 complaint. I was always being told to get a better pc, get an ssd. While I can play FFXIV, Dark Souls 2 or other newer games, I cannot play in a party in POE even on lowest settings.

Now I did buy a new pc (nothing hi end but way better than the previous and with SSD too) and will see soon. Probably it will be better but nothing amazing.

THeir engine is too old and now they are only milking the cow from existing fans.
Instead they should work on a new engine. But they said the plan is for 10 years. So we have at least 7 more years with the same engine. GL with that

"Guarded by Angry Chickens."

Would probably generate piles of angry posts about PoE not being dark and serious enough.

But they are dark and serious chickens!

So, you think they should nerf CI, crit, ES, and all manner of other mechanics, INSTEAD of nerfing a single unique item?

No I was simply pointing out 2 other things in path of exile that are broken beyond belief:

Chaos Inoculation: Maximum Life becomes 1. Immune to Chaos Damage.
This Negates all negatives of energy shield and allows players to go pure energy shield which grants insane amounts of effective health compared to any other alternative.

Shavronne's Wrappings - Chaos Damage does not bypass Energy Shield
This Negates all negatives of energy shield and allows people to use the life they had to run more auras.

But you chose to complain about

Atziri's Acuity - Leech applies instantly on Critical Strike
Which negates reflect... IF YOU HAVE ENOUGH CRIT CHANCE TO ACTUALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!

Seriously, how much crit chance do you actually need for these gloves to be reliable? 50%+? 60%+? How many build/item variants can even reach that much critical chance.
