lol

reason I know I'm correct about acuity:

the only people speaking against my points aren't even speaking against the points. they're just engaging in pathetic armchair psychology.

that's when you know you hit the nail on the head, when people resort to THAT level of shit.

I imagine for people who use games as escapism, this reality, that without an inordinate amount of work they're just as average in PoE as in real life, isn't much fun.

It's quite the opposite for me (remeber the bird?). I don't think I should have Acuities because others have them. I'd be happy to find them, sure.
Well, I have often thought that some people's attitude towards this game is not like they're playing for fun, but as if they were doing a job and expect to be paid (in Shav'ss, Acuities and the like)

You're a good egg.
https://linktr.ee/wjameschan -- everything I've ever done worth talking about, and even that is debatable.

Huh. My mace dude is now an actual cultist of Chayula. That's kinda wild.

Haha, no.

I wasn't disputing the accuracy of his original post, I was merely pointing out that flawed logic is flawed :)

As a side note I don't think this game is dead, I do think its dying though. It is for me anyway, I cant speak for anybody else.

People always look so bored when they drive Ferraris anyway. As though they're not quite as utterly happy as they thought they'd be with it.

I recall reading a study, a longer while ago, that showed that most people's perceived requirement for fulfillment and "happiness" is dynamic and always a bit outside of what they have, regardless of how much they have. Someone making 500 a month believes that if they made 1000, it would fix all their problems and they would be content. Someone making 5000 a month believes that 7500 would solve all difficulties, etc.

There is also a philosophical term for it: hedonistic adaption. Regardless of what someone has, there is always something new just outside of reach that promises to bring satisfaction. When these desires come true, usually after much struggle, they quickly lose appeal and attraction, and something new becomes the focus. The Stoics (the Roman flavor) realized that too, and they suggested the technique of visualizing the loss of the things (and people) one has in order to regain the lost appreciation for them. (I don't subscribe to negative visualization having benefits, however.)
@Veruski and the others who think that the gloves are mandatory end-game ect ect

Why are you complaining about a pair of gloves that allow a hand full of builds all of which require items that are far beyond the reach of 99.9% of the playerbase. Why are you not complaining about the very small handful of builds/item variants that are actually capable of reaching a high enough crit chance to actually make said gloves viable? Those gloves are a very nice "bonus" to a lot of builds, but most players will not be able to rely on them solely because the instant leech is not reliable enough at ~50% crit chance which I would say is pretty damn high for anyone not using a top rolled crit weapon with top rolled crit gear supporting it...

And what about that one armor that is allowing said 0.1% of the playerbase to run 5-6 auras (both on mana and life) which is in turn causing GGG to chain nerf auras to the point where they are useless for anyone not using that said armor because nobody can afford to reserve 90% of their mana for 2 lousy auras?

And what about that one passive node in the game, I believe people refer to it as Chaos Inoculation, you know that allows people to go pure energy shield and bypass the only 1 single downside to it (chaos damage) which in turn allows those players to buid pure energy shield/resists allowing them to reach well over 10k total energy shield with little to no sacrifice to damage output. You know, those "end-game" builds that are ALL USING CI???????? With of couse the exception of a few end-game life builds that are running around 7k health and doing around 10k dps because they have had to allocate 80 passives into %health leaving very little points remaining for dps.

TLDR;
Cry more about those stupid gloves.

P.S.
Also I have a solution for you. Instead of grinding atziri to get your oh so mighty "mandatory" gloves, when you reach that stage in the game just log off and wait for the new league. Meanwhile the rest of us will enjoy our grind, because that is what this game is and always will be... a hack and slash. If you think its ever going to change you are delusional. The endgame on poe and any other hack and slash variant will always be grinding the next best thing for weeks on end. Welcome to the genre, hope you enjoy your stay!

That's not the case, though. These gloves are exceptional, and completely unmatched by anything else, for a large number of builds. They are also (and especially) the "cure" for reflect, enabling builds to output substantially more damage (= more fun, less frustration, more profit).

So, you think they should nerf CI, crit, ES, and all manner of other mechanics, INSTEAD of nerfing a single unique item?

Is that your point?

If so, balance has a simple philosophy: in general, changing less is better than changing more, assuming equal outcomes.

Taking catering to the players to a whole new level: first the early JSON, and then this. I certainly appreciate it, but I do worry a bit about the inevitable fallout; the passive tree debacle (not on GGG's part, by any means; they went above and beyond trying to fix things that weren't their fault) proved just how self-absorbed, "but what have you done for me lately?" much of the fanbase gets.

Those first two words ... I was still thinking about the chickens. :)

Also what passive tree debacle? Only thing I saw was someone posting the wrong version and some people not knowing what to do with the JSON file.
