Announcing the One-Month Leagues (and Ambush/Invasion Challenge Winners)

Gonna copy something that 'Morbo' wrote in other topic

"Give special prizes for characters with zero deaths at the end of the league. Or a parallel set of prizes for zero-death chars reaching level X.

This way HC crowd gets something (maybe?) and GGG doesn't need to spend time designing two leagues (as officially stated to be the reason for only 1 league)"

Think that would give HC enthusiasts incentive to play too

Actually a good idea, but I think they may already be set in stone with this.

lol no.

I've had some time to think about this and my guess is that it is a strategic choice by GGG. There will be some serious hc blueballs by the time the 4month starts, making the launch of the new expo pretty hype. Especially since that is when "big time" streamers/youtubers (Kripp, Athene, etc) are most likely to dabble in POE.

Not sure what I'm gonna do. I loved invasion and am really finding legacy hc bland. Maybe I'll see how far I can get in 1 month with a no life node build or something.

there's a better chance of D3 going F2P than kripp coming back to poe.

props to kripp though. he jumped ship before it sank. he only has fond memories of this game. anyone who's still playing HC at this point is left disappointed.
Sad for no HC. I will think about it If I will play it or not.
my recipe:

- put all mods togheter for all the month
- add Turbo Mod or maybe just switch onslaught mod.

Much more challenge league and probably would be won but people able not to rip that much.

So my post gets deleted but this is fine? when it actually has profanity in it. What is going on here....
Sounds great. At some point you need to do some kind of a prize that factors in the total time a build is played so that some one who doesn't play PoE 16+ hours every day over the month league is the guaranteed winner. Many of us PoE loyalists have day jobs and family and can't grind PoE morning, noon, and night to rack up the highest level and exp for the 1 month league. Factoring in the build played time will give others a chance to rank. If that means a 6 team party will always out exp a solo player then there needs to be a factor for that too such as tracking time played with with group total players dividing the total down so that solo players have just as much a chance as 6 group teams to get higher on the ladder.
"You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..."
Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration.

Prizes for not dying isn't HC. The items used, the people you party with, the ability to shield your character with dying masses... not HC play.

It's not a bad idea, just don't call it HC.
I, for one, welcome our casual overlords.

I am rather amused that, for once, it's the hardcore players doing the most complaining, and it's the softcore players essentially saying "suck it up, buttercup".

"Why, hello, Shoe... what're you doing on that foot?"

I play both leagues for different reasons. Hardcore has the "yeah, I managed to survive that; what a rush" factor, while softcore has that "well, at least I haven't just lost days, maybe weeks of work" factor. I just don't get the exclusionary mindset.

With so many HC players staying away, that should make it a teensy bit easier for folks to win prizes. I'm not a fan of the ability to win prizes from multiple tiers, but then, that allows the possibility for winning something you might actually like, as opposed to the Seraph set.

(I kid, mostly. Personally I think the Seraph set is fubugly as hell, but I know it's hugely popular... so I hope all those sets are won by people who actually like them.)

We've received a lot of feedback about the recent challenges and have taken it on board for the design of the next set of challenges. More information will be made available as we release information on the expansion in the coming month!

I'm hoping some of the feedback pointed out that the challenge winners' numbers have been steadily declining over the past three four-month leagues. The Anarchy/Onslaught challenges had, if I recall correctly, 61 winners. The Domination/Nemesis challenges had 21 winners, and the current challenges for Ambush/Invasion had a whopping 14 winners.

Maybe I'm just leaping to conclusions here, but it seems to me the challenges are getting much more difficult with each season... stupidly so, in my opinion. I have to add my voice to those who despise the Path of Shopping challenges ("Have all these items", "use these currencies" and "make these vendor recipes"). I realize the game is built around having a player economy whether a player wants one or not, but forcing it into the challenges is rather objectionable to me.

Still, such challenges gate the t-shirt distribution to the most accomplished players (read: folks who get to mapping really early in the league and spend the rest of the time getting drops the rest of us dream about), which I suppose is the point. I'd just like to have an outside chance at completing these challenges, for once. But then, I'm not that good yet, so...

Anyway, I'm ready for the one month league, and am really looking forward to it!
"People ask me why I do this at my age. People are rude."
If u read through some of those postings, u could come to the conclusion, that there is a war going on between Standard and Hardcore people.
But when seeing it this way the fight will be soon over as there aren't many Hardcore players left.
Most of my friends and guild mates ( yes I'm one of the last Hardcore survivors ) are leaving towards the light. They are too bored in Standard HC and they need the kick with only having one life.
I, for sure, will try out the 1 month event anyway even if it should remain a Standard event, but GGG will loose their HC player-base if they don't offer candy in two flavours!
