No hardcore league? I will not be participating. Good work effectively taking the game down for a month.

What's entitled about wanting to play HC? These same people are saying they're taking a break till the 4 month league. That means they're actively enjoying the game but only like playing HC.

Making a separate HC mode is not difficult and it has always been done which has developed this subset of players.

this argument is stupid, let's remove a part of the game or delete our character meanwhile someone with 1000hp is farming merciless piety with 500iir iiq... gross.

I think it'd be good of GGG to make a hardcore alternative, if only to stop all the bellyaching, but I don't know what their rationale or resource constraints are.

I'm not objecting to hardcore players wanting to play in a hardcore league. I'm objecting to arguments of the form "I like the game to be risky/challenging/difficult, so I can't play softcore," because (as your response clearly illustrates) the hardcore player is interested not only in limits imposed on him/her, but also in limits imposed on others.

There's a fundamental difference between "I want the game to be difficult for me" and "I want the game to be difficult for everyone," and being clear and honest about which of those positions you hold is important as a matter of rhetoric (i.e., using words to get what you want) and cognitive hygiene.

(Not really expecting them to do that, but it would be a funny notion after that 20-page-flamewar...)

If on the other hand, standard league will be the parent league to this event, I can well understand the reservations of HC players towards it. (With items/time/effort basically going to "waste")

These two sentences being so close to each other doesn't do well for your point.

I agree GGG should probably make a hardcore version, and that wouldn't be too hard. It's the incessant sense of entitlement and poor attitude of this selected sub-group of the HC community that I have huge problems with.
