What Happens when the Ambush and Invasion Leagues end this Weekend?

Thanks to those who replied to my questions, I think I can relax now.

So, Sacrifice of the Vaal content will remain. The corrupted zones will spawn less frequently, but they'll still spawn.
And I'll have all my characters 'n gear from Ambush transferred to Standard, 'n it'll all be mine to do with whatever I want.

If I'm missin' anything, lemme know. Severe O.C.D. makes sure that I'm never sure.

Strongboxes etc not being added until 1.2: Why would you not add them as soon as ambush and invasion end? Big disincentive for players to migrate to the legacy leagues here, with absolutely no upside.

New remove-only tab mechanics: Seems like something concocted by a load of out of touch focus group sperglords sitting round a corporate boardroom table. Seriously terrible decision here.

1-month event: Heres hoping its as enjoyable as the recent 2-week ambvasion event.

Edit: Mass rage incoming if race reward tabs are on the r/o tab force-transfer menu.

I love this game and put a lot of money into it, but this RO stash tab change is horrible.

If this is GGG's way to make more money, I think it will discourage people from buying more tabs since most people want to keep their RO tabs as they are until they need an item from them.

If the massive number of RO tabs are causing technical problems for GGG, there are alternative solutions. For instance, change RO tabs so that once an item is taken out of a RO tab, that tab will expire in 24 hours. (of course warn the player the tab will expire when they try and remove an item). This will encourage players to keep their inventories more organized and possibly buy more tabs.


Also, what happens to the race reward RO tabs? Are they subject to the same rules as regular RO tabs? Many racers race to get rewards for the new 4 month leagues. But if these rewards are removed automatically in the old leagues with new stash tab purchases, many racers will get annoyed that their time invested in races was wasted.

I'm surprised that GGG thought up such a short-sighted and player unfriendly "solution" to RO tabs. I hope they rethink these changes before they lose any goodwill from their customers.

I'm slightly confused, if we have purchased extra stash tabs do those also transfer from Ambush to Standard?

strongboxes mean, more gems and more maps drop. for map drops this was great. because, maps are are a problem if one wants to continue playing AND making progress. (which is questionable in genral - why is it not guaranteed, to get the chance to make progress if the player continues to play?) (??????)

for gems it is a different story, because gems don't disappear after using them. so, more and more gems exist, and so, gems losing value. map stongboxes are a good idea, gem strongboxes not.

When you buy extra stash tabs they apply to all leagues.
If you have 10 tabs in Ambush, you also have 10 tabs in Standard and Hardcore and even in races.
So when the leagues end you will have the 10 tabs from Standard, and 10 remove-only tabs that came over from Ambush (if you have stuff in all of them, only used tabs become remove-only). Invasion gets moved to Hardcore respectively.


The problem with remove-only tabs emptying automatically into freshly bought tabs is that all the junk you might still pondering whether to keep or vendor or whatnot will flood in, and as it sounds like, with no control over what gets transferred.
I buy tabs to organize the stash when it gets way too messy. Having more mess randomly fill up the new space is NOT helping.
Even with race rewards not doing that, it's rather annoying. But, good to know that's what would happen so I don't buy any new tabs till it's fixed. Thanks for the warning.

It's always good to see how many players continue playing their characters in Standard and Hardcore in the gap between challenge leagues. Because much of our playerbase play in the challenge leagues, we initially expected to see dramatically reduced online player concurrency while those leagues aren't available. There are two potential reasons we can see for this not being the case:
- When characters join the established economies of Standard and Hardcore they get access to a whole new league of trading and crafting options. Builds can be substantially improved by the better or older items available.
- There's generally a greater influx of new players and an increase in returning players as we start to promote a new expansion and new challenge leagues. This promotion process will start in a few weeks :)


These are rather technical reasons. How about the emotional ones?

- People simply get attached to their chars.
- People are quite happy with what they have achieved in the 4 months, and don't feel like going through the whole process of starting out weak and grinding/trading their way up anymore.

Your potential reasons and my potential reasons combined, and I wouldn't be surprised if - over the years and PoE having established a stable-ish playerbase - the challenge leagues eventually become noticeably less popular than today and standard and hardcore noticeably more.

Who saying that leagues must be 4-8 months u so damn wrong people. Real leagues must be 1-2 months and level cap decreased via cutting off experience to level up at last levels. Why 1-2 months? - Simple: cos if u played in onslaught/nemesis/invasion u can remember how people playing 1-2 months then instantly all going offline u see dead public/chats/trades and even more people quitting game. Meanwhile u also were able to see that massive insane online during last 2 week race (short "leag") where u dont even begging devs to create auction house system - cos all people playing and u easily using trade chat, easily using public groups for those who alone and u simply having more funs cos u see that people playing this game and its "alive" not "dead" like last 2 months of any league such invasion. I understand only 1 thing that stopping devs from making 1-2 months leagues - they proly wont able to make new stuff in time to keep that release rates etc. On another hand they could host much more 1-2 week "races/leagues" during such long 4 month leagues - then sure it can solve "dead league" troubles without removing 4 month time allowed from those who inlove with super long leagues. :)
