[2.0] THOR'S RAINBOWNUKE: DO ALL MAPS, UBER ATZIRI, AND EXPLOSIONS!
Interesting analysis, but wouldn't it be a bit more fair to include both Arctic Armor and Taste of Hate into the life variant build when comparing? If this site is accurate: https://jsfiddle.net/p7pe80jx/39/embedded/result/ then one could easily plug in some numbers and get a rough idea of how much damage mitigation said life build could get. Not totally leveled up on my life variant, but decided to chuck in some numbers to see where I would be and had these thrown in there to calculate:
1. 5,500 HP 2. 50,000 Armor w/Granite 3. 4 Endurance Charges 4. Level 20 Arctic Armor 5. Fortify 6. Heart of Steel notable 7. Taste of Hate Assuming a level 80 monster is hitting me for the 10,000 damage you used in your example, then with all of those active I would take approximately 2,468 damage on a hit. That's less than half of my total life pool...far less than the 7,100 damage you took via LL/ES. Now, I know you pointed that out, but again I am only pointing out that you should try to make the comparisons as fair as possible and keep the variables as close to one another as you can to get a more fair look at the outcomes. When you include Taste of Hate and Arctic Armor - both of which life builds have access to - it starts to put things into a better perspective and shows things aren't so black and white. I'm by no means saying LL is inferior to life, as LL has things that the life variant just can't do, especially when it comes to the damage and aura department and easier time of proccing status ailments. Also, you said: So yeah, mitigation is pretty nice and armour is strong, when layered with other defences, which also holds true for ES and pretty much anything else in this game. Layering defenses is really the only way to go when you need to mitigate as much damage as possible, especially in the higher maps where mob damage can really become an issue, even with just one additional damage mod added into the mix. All said and done, Taste of Hate and Arctic Armor are certainly worth using if you can fit them in, and they do have their benefits for this build whether you go life or LL. |

Yeah your right, its not really black and white in 2.0.
The most lifebased builds I see don't use AA, thats what I based my assumption on. I still think lifebased is boss killer and LL is mapkiller. I've seen some garena streamers (asian) with 10kES LL Crit Mjölner and they run Uber like 1.3, so yeah I guess its just really a gear and level requierement to "surpass" (as I said thats a vague terma tm.) the lifeversion. Since the lifeversion is so much easier to gear, it's still better for temp. league puposes. cheers Edit: just read the patchnotes! "The Energy From Within unique Jewel now transforms Life into Energy Shield at 100% of its value." So the melting cluster now gives 52% ES for 5 nodes (the socket, + the 4 nodes with a 12% Energy from within Jewel). Thats fucking nuts. 10k ES here I come. Yup, just saw that myself. That's really going to be a go-to cluster now for the LL version of this build. Might also be really nice for the life variant I have as well...about 50% total armor and 15% life, which is honestly not that bad at all. Maybe not totally comparable to the 'Soul of Steel' cluster I could also take (this would be around level 96) but I think the extra life would help out and the armor is only 22% less than SoT, and the 4% physical damage reduction, but still...think it's worth it.
**EDIT** Also the fact that the jewel itself has Armor% on it, so actually...that's even better. Last edited by Tanakeah#5640 on Aug 18, 2015, 9:29:22 PM

Yeh, today is awesome, 9.7 ES with room to grow!

Trying to get to level 93 - getting closer - and see how the life build will pan out from there when I can make some much-needed adjustments to my tree and likely update my little guide section I made. Will likely copy and paste the whole thing and change things around a bit as there are some other sections that will need some changes, too.

quick ??
Long story short I play this game with my 5yr old at times. He currently has a lvl 80 witch, and I would like to build him a similar nuke build. I have a second set of LL(shavs') items I can use, but would like to figure out which type of LL build. He isn't great at managing flasks so button smashing while with me on maps is what he likes to do. Is there a good easy build for him and a more advanced (crit or the likes) that I could use. I have an feeling that a more advance crit build is in the works as well as great updates to the currently posted build. His toon: lvl 80 witch Mine lvl 93 witch |

If you want a crit build then I would suggest taking a cruise over to the Witch forums and checking out some of the Mjolner Discharge guides they have there. This particular variant in this guide is Resolute Technique so it will build and gear slightly differently than the crit versions. As for which is 'easier'...tough to say as both variants aren't exactly 'simple' per se, but if you have the gear to spare then go with the LL RT Rainbownuke build.

Thanks for the follow up. so far he is able to play my main post build in this thread easy enough except on normal atziri, I haven't let him run her alone yet.
You mentioned updating your build for this thread. How close are you to wanting to post the layout? I havn't re specced his lvl 80 just yet and might wait to see what your plans were in the updates. Especially before I change any Shav coloring that I have currently. I might start running the lvl 77+ maps alone later but with him I am only doing up to lvl 72ish. |

I can likely post it tomorrow, even if I don't hit level 93. I have enough that I will be able to lay out the basics and the like and have a passive tree going and the like.
