[2.0] THOR'S RAINBOWNUKE: DO ALL MAPS, UBER ATZIRI, AND EXPLOSIONS!
I decided to drop my flask effect nodes in order to optimize my passive tree differently. In the end, I managed to push my ES from 8072 to 9090, without any substantial downside (aside from wasting currency). Now I utilize four Jewels: Energy from Within, Clear Mind, Conqueror's Efficiency and a rare Crimson Jewel. I also picked up an additional power charge from the Alira Merciless Bandit Quest Reward (rip 20 regrets).

" I'm probably missing something but why are you using a jewel slot for Conqueror's Efficiency? More mana reserved (not good), more skill duration ( longer Fortify? But why when it is recast on hit) and 3% reduced cost of skills but with a 20 life cost per attack you're not even saving 1 life per attack. What am I not thinking about? |
|
I also see no advantage to Conqueror's Efficiency... when I plugged in the additional 2% reservation on the aura calculator, nothing changed for my setup.
Ironically, I'm thinking I may wind up speccing in to the flask nodes, but not sure yet what I want to drop. Some of these map bosses hit like a truck with elemental damage and with dangerous enough mods, I'm thinking the extra 3% resist with flask up could be the difference between life and death at some point even at my 8.5k ES. I think I figured it out. The Wiki is incorrect. It shows INCREASED mana reservation whereas I think it is actually REDUCED reservation. Don't believe everything you read on the Internet, they always say!
That said, I still don't think I would spend a skill point for essentially 2% reduced reservation unless that precisely meant I could grab an extra aura or something. Last edited by urgatorbait#3706 on Jul 16, 2015, 4:34:53 PM

" Yup it reduces mana reservation by 2%. For me, 2% reservation is a very big deal. As it allows me to hit a critical reservation milestone of 40% reduced reservation cost. Upon hitting 40% reduced reservation, i free up 5% of my max HP, which allows me to test using things like manual cursing, high level golems and other stuff. Plus, I also makes use of that small skill duration and small reduced mana cost bonus. Its mainly for testing around for now, and it make running any 8 auras very easy. |

Ok, so I've finally gotten a chance to mess around with the build some more and though I have some slight tweaking to do, I've hit upon this variant with my Witch (Scion can pretty much do the same thing). Granted, it all might change, and I had to work around my gear just a tad, but this is what I came up with:
GEAR
Spoiler
Bear in mind that not all the gems are final and I'm doing some leveling up with some of them in various ways, so they're not 100% fully optimized to a 'T'. I'll likely change up my flasks a bit as well, but for now they are pretty nice and work for what I need. Had to go back and get all of the extra points from Act IV so I could get my tree in order, and this is what I've come up with: PASSIVE TREE The jewels are also going to be tweaked down the road, but for the time being I am very happy with what I was able to craft and scrounge around and buy. In total this build has about 9,056 ES at level 95, and my attacks are sitting at around...5.16 or so with the Haste aura up. I feel that it's more than enough to function and the life regen I've taken is more than enough to allow me to spam my attacks and cast IC whenever it's off cooldown. I might shift a few points around later and maybe respec for Oak's Endurance Charge and get one from the passive tree via Intuitive Leap, which can still let me get the Armor/ES notable near it as well. I honestly feel a bit 'naked' without at least 5 or so seconds of IC up time as having only 3 seconds to just run out the cooldown timer doesn't feel good enough for me. Again, that's going to have to be accompanied by some jewel switching around, but that won't be until later when I have more optimized jewels with better ES/damage and potentially attack speed rolls on them of some sort. Otherwise, I'll have to test drive the build tomorrow in some higher level maps and see how I do, and since I have no real exp towards level 96, dying won't be a huge loss. In case you were wondering and couldn't tell from the gems, I run: Discipline Haste Wrath Herald of Ice (Enhance) Herald of Thunder (Enhance) Purity of Fire Purity of Ice Purity of Lightning When they're all at max levels then I'll have 81 resists across the board, save of lightning, which will be 82%. I am thinking that Fortify is the way to go here instead of my old CoH/EW setup in the 6L as the extra defense is really needed over the offense right now. Otherwise...yeah...liking it so far, but the real testing comes out tomorrow. |

I'm interested to see your results Tanakeah, i'm personally not a huge fan of flask node, as i feel they dont actively work to benefit me, but that end game elemental damage is some seriously deadly shit. Furthermore, you baseline resists are slightly lower as you dont run any empowered purities. Howevever, I like your pathing for your passives in your non-vitality build variation. I might do something similar, except that I will drop HoI for Arctic Armour.
I was thinking about doing something like this: Last edited by iSo1iD#4681 on Jul 16, 2015, 10:36:44 PM

Anyone running this build able to beat the Village Ruin boss (79 map) with anything other than super EZ mods? I can kill the dog thing just fine but the centuar or whatever that thing is more or less perma-stuns me with Vaal Rain of Arrows and I cannot figure out how to kill it. It's the first thing I've encountered so far that has really given me trouble. Tried 3 times and failed each.
I have also changed up my gem setup in a small but significant way. With how difficult and mechanical a lot of the new content is, I have been feeling the need for a move skill. Given that I didn't like how Lightning Strike/Fortify/Curse on Hit/Warlord's Mark was feeling, I have made the following changes: Shield = Leap Slam / Faster Attacks / Fortify Boots = CWDT/ID/IC/VD Unset Ring = Warlord's Mark (manual cast)
New Gem setup
Really liking how this feels so far. Can cast the curse, leap slam in, leap slam away, then kill everything really quickly and safely - I feel like I'm taking a lot less damage. Now, if only I could figure out how to kill that cheesy as hell boss that shoots Vaal Rain of Arrows every 5 seconds... " That Map Boss is seriously annoying as hell. That Vaal Rain of Arrow spam is undoubtedly OP. It pins you in place, so you cant move, but this "rooting effect" does not count as a stun, thus making unwavering stance useless against it. However, you can still attack. So, the best strategy is to use lightning strike and long range him, but then the fight will be very slow. Alternatively, you can rush in with a quicksilver flask/leap slam and hope you kill him fast enough. Or you can hope that het gets aggroed to something like a golem. Personally, I just avoid running against him when there are killer map mods, but if I have to face him, I pop my RUMIS and hope for the best. We can now confirm that GGG has intentionally designed maps with the "RUIN" name to ruin all our progress. :P Last edited by iSo1iD#4681 on Jul 16, 2015, 11:09:17 PM

That boss is probably one where a regen version of this build is going to fare a lot better - because you have to keep so much distance between yourself and him to not get VRoA / 2 or 3-shot, it means you can't do enough damage to keep your ES up. It's a really annoying fight. And I'm out of those maps to keep trying to figure out a winning strategy for now :(
Anyways, off to attempt to redeem myself: The 352nd character to hit Level 100 in Standard
