[2.0] THOR'S RAINBOWNUKE: DO ALL MAPS, UBER ATZIRI, AND EXPLOSIONS!
HELLO i need help to figure out:
-1)why people do not keep power charges nodes (+3) in the passive tree? this will not boost my dps sky high? -2)why people prefer keeping lightning DMG nodes instead of Elemental DMG nodes? elemental dmg node will affect all your endurance charge \ frenzy charge \ power charge would not be better? indeed 10% lightning dmg = 10% elemental dmg so why not benefict of all ELEMENTAL we are using? -3)why people prefer using Doryani belt instead of a damn freaking HEADHUNTER Belt? and because of the leech 1% that gives to us the doriany belt and we change it for an headhunter belt we could use this ring instead for the 1% leech -4)why people prefer running righteous fire. its so much a waste of passive nodes to get the life regen we need to sustain RF. instead we could use those passive nodes to BOOST like crazy our elemental dmg nodes -5)How people can run BLOOD RAGE to energy shield if those people didn t keep the ZEALOTH OATH passive node? there is any kind of trick to combine BLOOD RAGE + BLOOD MAGIC + GHOST REAVER passive node? is that the key to run Blood rage on ES without using ZEALOATH OATH node? -6)now i have a last question, i never understand how people can do that: you are using Lightning strike skill gem . this LS gem spend your life because we have blood magic node. your life leech gem will LEECH life that become Energy shield due to our Ghost REAVER passive node. SO HOW THE DAMN HELL people can use Lightning strike ? the life pool will go to ZERO how can they use infinite time LIGHTNING STRIKE GEMS without even use flask!! just watch the video at the main page #1 of this thread..this person can use LS infinite! PLEASE ANSWER ME TO ALL Last edited by Bozambo#5762 on Jan 26, 2015, 8:28:42 PM

" Hello, let me try to address your questions. 1) Basically, every time you attack with lightning/molten strike, there is a 50% chance for you to consume your charges and cast discharge. Hence, on your first hit, you are guaranteed to generate at least 1 power charge (as discharge cannot be used without charges), then you will have a 50% chance to generate your 2nd power charge, before discharge is cast, then you have another 50% for your 3rd power charge and another 50% for your 4th power charge. Basically, there is 12.5% chance for you to have 4 power charges before discharging. Any higher amount of power charges, will have even lower chances to occur (6.25% for 5 charges, 3.125% for 6 charges), which make them very less likely to occur. 4 is thus the ideal number of power charges needed, and you do not necessarily need more. 2) Bulk of the damage dealt through this build is lightning due to arc and power charge based discharges. We only do fire damage when we have endurance charges, and even with blood rage, we do not generate consistent enough frenzy charges for cold damage discharges. Hence, majority of the damage done by this build is lightning based. As such, when allocating passives, it is more worthwhile to add to lightning damage in most scenarios over elemental damage, especially when for each passive point, we get more lightning damage then elemental damage. 3) The 1 percent lightning leech on Doryani's invitation is extremely consistent and useful to the survival of this build. The 1% leech from Valako's Sign only applies to shocked targets, which makes the leech much less consistent. Much of the time, mobs die before they can even be shocked, hence you cannot leech back ES from them. Furthermore, bosses like Atziri are shock immune, meaning that you will die should you face them as you cannot leech ES. Additionally, compared to headhunter, Doryani's Invitation is very affordable. 4) Nobody is running righteous fire in the build anymore as it is considered wasteful and less effective. 5) For this build, ghost reaver is almost a necessity across most of the build variations, as its leech is necessary to sustain ES. For some builds, the leech is more than enough to sustain blood rage effectively. For others, we use the Shavronne's Revelation ring that gives 4% ES regen with no negative effect. 4% ES regen will out recover 4+% ES life degen from blood rage. The choice is up to you. 6) Since we do not use zealot's oath, our vitality aura or passive health regen provides us with the life to use lightning strike. By keeping the cost of lightning strike low (by using a low level gem) we will have more than sufficient life regen to sustain Lightning strike usage. Hope this helps! THANKS INFINITE TIMES #iSo1iD
Really really thanks you. now i understand lot of things including: a) the number of power charges MATH possible running in this build are 4. because higher number is to much LOW % to generate them. thanks to explain me that b) the problem of elemental dmg vs lightning dmg now i completly understand that all my damage came from lightning because frenzy charges and endurance charges are never generate x3 at same time. C) i understand now why doryany belt is better than any one else because for light leech . and due to the fact that the ring with 1% life leech only applies to shock monster...and if u oneshot a monster , that monster is not shocked, so u can t proc back life from it. --------- Now i only have problem : Would not be better using iron will instead of lightning penetration Even if we choice full lightning dmg nodes in our passive tree? iron will boost 100% spell dmg! |

" I PM'd you my response to this question but I'll mention it here as well since there may be newer folks to this build who didn't see the original discussion about this. I put a fairly lengthy post back on PAGE 53 that includes (under the "Offense/DPS" section) a lot of math comparing the combination of Iron Will boosted by Righteous Fire to spell/lightning damage from the tree & gear boosted by Lightning Penetration. That post is from 1.2 so some of the details are out of date but I can't see why the logic behind the math there would have changed since 1.2. The TL;DR version of the whole thing is that Lightning Penetration is in fact the best option for boosting your DPS and is a lot better than you might think. The only downside to it is that if you find yourself needing the life leech gem frequently, you'll have to rechrome your Mjolner a bunch. The 352nd character to hit Level 100 in Standard

i am sorry to ask help to you one more itme but i would like to figure out
Till today, everybody played this version of THOR RAINBOWNUKE a) righteous fire build ( to old, no dps, just a little boost from RF, but nothing compared to B,C) b) No-Righteousfire .. full ES shield and keep all lightning nodes\elemental nodes as u can till today i thought that A and B were the only 2 possible build but today i saw a video about: C) Low LIFE mjolner blood magic passive node CRIT version now my questions are: -The crit mjolner build is stronger? if yes why and how? -The crit mjolner allows me to get more more more dps? -Can someone link to me the godly passive tree for a mjolner crit version? -Which should be the godliest equip for that build? imagine the godlies item u can get, then ,write. Thansk infinite to all of you. and i am sorry for my noob questions, but i love this build, but i cant figure out Whats the best solution! |

" If you need in-depth information on a crit variation of this build, such as passive tree or gearing, you can refer to another thread such as: http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1023816 On whether the crit version is "Stronger", I personally don't think so, after trying out both crit and the non-crit versions. More or less, I did not notice much of a damage boost playing the crit version. Without much crit multiplier on gear, the crit damage often feels negligible. In my opinion, the key strength of the crit mjolner builds was instant flask recharge and life leech (should you use atziri's acuity), however it does not have the same ease of gear upgrading that the rainbownuke build has. Furthermore, given the nerf to acuity, I don't feel as inclined to go back to the crit version. Thus, the choice of going crit is entirely up to you. " This is pretty much how I feel as well; IMO crit build is for flasks and maybe a slight survivability boost from using Acuity. I don't think it's worth it, personally. Maybe if you were doing nothing but Uber farming, but even then... could probably get by equally well with a VP version of this build. The 352nd character to hit Level 100 in Standard

EDIT... DIED TOO MUCH TO REFLECT, CHANGED PLANS
Thought I'd provide an update on my build. I dropped Dream Frags due to the upcoming 1.3.1 and made some other minor updates. This enabled me to address my #1 complaint with the build to date: no way to get any IIR, making mapping barely profitable. Now sitting at 80% IIR which is a lot better... feels like I get about 3x as many rares per map.
Updated Tree (Scion, Level 96)
Updated Gear
A common question I get asked is "how does your build handle mana?"... the answer is that the mana leech from Romira's Banquet enables me to sustain attacking so long as I am hitting things. I cannot spam very long if I'm not hitting anything. But Lightning Strike & Molten Strike blanket huge areas and make it easy to hit things. I avoid the following affixes on maps: -No Regen -Minus Max -Elemental Reflect -Blood Magic If a map doesn't have one of those affixes, it's doable without much trouble. For the lulz... here is a video example of what 99.999% of my deaths look like (the fun starts around 1:20...). Basically all my deaths are when some nasty combination of events occurs such that an elemental reflect pack and an "other allies cannot die" pack get combined in a short enough timeframe that I cannot react and pop Vaal Discipline / run away. In this case: a rare with the Shroud Walker Nemesis mod popped onto the screen so fast that I didn't really get a chance to notice he was also elemental reflect, because I was paying attention to another mob with the "allies cannot die" property, and I made the brilliant decision to fire off into the middle of the pack, 1-shotting myself in the process. I didn't even think to pop a Topaz flask, but I probably would have died even if I had. I don't really have any good ideas for preventing those scenarios other than trying to pay closer attention or alter the build to use VP and the Life Leech gem, which I am not really interested in doing. So... after posting this, I died 3 more times to weird combos of "other allies cannot die" + ele reflect. I'm effing sick of it. So, Vaal Pact it is. New Tree (with Vaal Pact)
New Gem/gear Setup
TO SUM UP: 1) I made a couple insignificant adjustments to my passive tree to drop ZO and get VP 2) I replaced Vitality with Herald of Thunder 3) I replaced Lightning Penetration with Life Leech WHY? 1) So I stop dying to ele reflect in annoying/unforeseen situations THIS IS ONLY A GOOD IDEA IF YOU ARE ONLY DYING TO REFLECT...: -Loss of ES regen hurts bad. Overall survivability is not better this way with VP; only vs. ele reflect. It also makes chaos resist MANDATORY on most of your gear so that Blood Rage doesn't wreck you. If you were following my variant before and are NOT having the problems with reflect; stick with the original variant. It's spoilered above. -You could go Blood Magic / Mortal Conviction and use Shavronne's Revelation for a little ES regen to offset Blood Rage but for my setup in particular, I'd rather have the free ring slot so that I can run around with some decent IIR. " Yup, too funny, I also completely overhauled my build, biting the bullet and taking vaal pact after losing ANOTHER surprise 8% XP to reflect. Sure, the damage loss is noticeable on tougher bosses, but for the most part my clear speed is exactly the same, and now I plow right through reflects... so nice. Pretty funny we basically took the same route, save the whole BM vs mana thing. gear
