Garena is adding skill tree resets as a micro transaction in 1.1.3. Thoughts?

I got confirmation from Samantha that posting our compiled information for the areas over there would be welcomed.

So far I have linked to the Wiki for Detailed game mechanics, Quest rewards, unique item list. Posted Invalesco's Crafting thread, The Exile Sale Recipe list and New/In Depth FAQ.

I have not done Ingarsoll's threads for uniques and news letters since he is active on the forum there, will ask permission as he may want to post them himself.

Also have not done Lyralei's Map management list, as she is still active here and I will ask permission first as well before I repost it there.

Also they have a TOTAL of 27 threads in the Class Discussion area of the forum, so if anyone would like to post their successful builds, ideas and explanations of it on there I am quite sure it will be welcomed wholeheartedly.

Take a look at the Garena forums and it becomes pretty damn clear why they need this. Other things can be farmed for but when new players fuck up their builds and can't find anyone to trade with or take weeks of farming to fix it or have to just repeatedly start new characters until they get it right, it becomes awfully tedious. We've had a good sized player base since I can remember, even in Closed Beta on the main POE game so you can trade for pretty much anything you ever need. They have almost NO posts on the forum in the new league trade areas.

The trading/selling/shops on the forums has a total of Ambush 190ish threads and Invasion has 9, 9 total threads. Standard and Hardcore have a bit more but no where near what we have here.

The learning curve for POE is pretty steep for new players and doing it basically alone, I can't imagine. They don't have our guides, our recipes, our mechanic threads, or any of the helpful things that are available on our forums. Pretty much unless they find this forum they are playing blind and figuring it out themselves - this information NEEDS to be shared on that forum or they can spend the next 3 years letting their players make their own threads and losing players in the meantime. I'll be honest without alot of the information found on our forums in the first 6 months of playing this game, I don't think I would have fallen in love with it as much as I have and the community is a HUGE part of why I do like this game. They don't have any of this there right now.

This really begs the question of whether or not it was wise to outsource another company to reach out to the Asian market to begin with.

I feel like PoE is right on that fuzzy, furry edge of being big, but not quite big enough to justify something like this.

Furry edge? Oh god, the images.
There are a lot more issues than just what you want to do when you start going into foreign markets.

I'm going to give GGG the benefit of the doubt here on the intentions of their decision, but I will note that this can potentially damage the economy of the game here on our servers, which I find greatly disturbing given Chris' past statements about P2W and the direction of POE.

Bug Fixes:
People were using cyclone for actual melee builds, so we nerfed it and made blade vortex. Also, we went ahead and made cyclone great for CoC casters while we were at it.

Nice work! I am tempted to reply about those being another quality BLOW post, but nobody's likely to get it.

To actually log into the game requires a little hoop-jumping, in case anyone wants to try. Game is a tad laggy, not unplayably so, but it provides some perspective on those who have such issues on the main servers. Any questions about how to actually get the game up and running (dun bother downloading from the Garena PoE site), I'll be happy to answer. =^[.]^=

You are not mistaken in your disturbance. These recent developments by Garena (and Chris's subsequent approval) are a clear contradiction in GGG's stance on P2W.

Again, PoE's Garena isn't some stolen/hacked copy of PoE. It is a licensed Path of Exile game, with nearly 100% of everything being the exact same. Just because GGG is not directly hosting Garena's PoE, it doesn't make Garena's PoE any less part of the Path of Exile world. This sets a precedent and shows that if if GGG's PoE's community ever gets to dangerously low levels, Chris might very well implement similar MTX here.

If the community becomes so small as to force GGG into making such MTX, I'm pretty sure it'd be about time for those against such things to either jump ship or start buying more supporter packs.

Well, Xav, Garena still has to turn a profit yes? Running servers isnt free. The hamsters running the wheels supplying the electricity still need to be fed!

I'm not judging Garena, it's (kind of) their game after all. To anyone wondering about Chris' response, a fellow Blower pointed out that Chris can not simply publicly shit on a business partner, so naturally his response will be very neutral at worst. Makes sense. I still think Chris opposes p2w and that such changes will never make it to the western realms.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

You didn't leap to this conclusion -- you took a run-up and dove right over the cliff.

Would you have foreseen Chris's approval of Garena's licensed copy of PoE implementing such P2W MTX back in Closed Beta? Yeah, me neither.

Point is, never say never ;) These are how slippery slopes start. It sets a precedent in GGG's stance on P2W. This decision is as much a conscious decision by Garena as it is by GGG for allowing it.

Agreed, it does set precedent! As such, GGG is more likely to allow Garena to make changes that are riding the border of P2W in the future if Garena feels it is necessary for them to keep their bottom line. However, I have the feeling that if such a situation occurred in the international version, Chris would first tell the players and ask for more support rather than implementing such an option.
