Hello, i'm currently playing your build as my only toon in Talisman SC, so far i got this:

Gear(no jewels yet, currently leveling a lot of gems for testing)
Spoiler
So with blood rage, my tornado shot is doing about 7k tooltip and the LA with LMP is 4.8k, which seems abysmally slow for the numbers i'm seeing in the rest of this post, dou have any advice on how to continue the character from this point on? i have 3 unspent passives since i really don't know what i wanna do with them, this is my first ranger toon and it feels like i'm not getting how to distribute the stats, or if i'm using the wrong stats maybe. so far i'm only farming dried lake and low maps ( mainly cause i started with the maps a few hours ago) and so far i've had 0 issues, no deaths at all, while the clearspeed feels relatively high, i can only wonder how the rest of the folks around here are doing with 10k+ on gmp LA. thank you for your time, merry xmas. Build update level 90 - demonstrating clear potential with nothing but 4 links on a t10 map: =================================================================================

PoE is simply a game of optimization. What I mean by this is that the goal of every build is to simply get as many desirable affixes in the highest possible amount on every gear slot but making smart tactical trade offs where you know the net gain will be greatest because few people have 6000 exalts to burn on a full set of mirrored gear. What does this mean in practice? -If you know 40 flat elemental damage is equal to 26-28% WED for your build then you can prioritize the remaining affixes to have very high resists or life rather than getting a crummy 28% WED ring with 40 life and some resists that cost you several exalts. -If you know 8 ias and 12 projectile is going to give you the most dps/cost in a jewel but also know life jewels will cost 20x as much, then prioritize life on gear and dps on jewels rather than dps first on gear and life on jewels. -If you know that you will need spend 3 passive points to get 40 int then simply get it as an affix in your helm because int is much cheaper than resists and you net 3 passives. -If you can get 40 total resists from a jewel with slightly less damage than a similar jewel but this allows you to upgrade a gear slot that you had . -If you had to choose between 2 rings one with 15 flat cold and 20 flat light and the other with 5 flat cold and 35 flat light you should actually pick the former even at a dps loss because the cold damage will help with shatters which will help with pcoc which will make your run overall smoother. -This is the primary reason why this build is not beginner friendly. -The ONLY way to get as much performance out of the build with the minimal amount of currency investment shown is to know and understand affix equivalences and to itemize and optimize your gear properly. With that said, consider investing a chaos orb per jewel to get 8 attack speed with bows and 12 projectile damage ideally with additional stats like resist or regal them yourself. Jewels constitute 40% of my damage and rings/amulets a significant remaining portion. Second, you need your rings and amulets to contribute meaningful to your damage whilst still giving resists and ideally life. Finally, whetstone your bow to 20%. Keep in mind 40 flat elemental damage will be roughly equal to 26-28% WED for builds at 250% increased damage while the latter is very expensive and the former is literally free. Take a look at my initial post in the vids section to see how progressed I my gear. from level 80 to 90. " You have a great setup there. I would highly recommend using a thunderfist to place your lightning arrow and the gear you listed until you can 6 link your voltaxic. I would also go with the blood magic gem route since you already have key items and from initial testing, anger aura is outputting as much as a 6th gem. More on this to come. Imo, Koam's heart variant even non legacy is going to the best choice after level 92 because having 6000-7000 life is just too good to pass up when the end game ha become such an unreasonably dangerous rip-fest. The alternative is a 6 link 2000 evasion chest or lightning coil but of which are more expensive and give comparable defense. With that said, legacy coils are absurdly inexpensive considering their legacy status but 20 exalts is a huge amount of currency for most players. " Yes. Part of the reason I generate shatters is because I itemized cold damage on both my rings in addition to having some on my bow. In most sub t10 maps I will generally swap out critical damage for IIR since the extra damage is not noticeable when I instant shatter packs. Simply getting more WED/projectile damage will also help since it will amplify the damage from HoI's cold damage added to attacks. i'm playing your build now
i have about 8k dps on LA with a tabula rasa and a voltaxic with a voltaxic + 1 arrow and this rigvald quill +1 arrow the clear speed will be insane a question, the projectiles made by fork can chain ? they apply the damage spread of lightning arrow? |
|
" With gmp you will fire 7 arrows, each of these will fork, then each of these will chain twice and every hit will carry the innate aoe payload to hit 3 nearby foes. The result is absolutely remarkable. Ignore your paper dps. Even with 4000 LA DPS this will melts on on even high tier maps. If you get a chance, post a video of it hitting a large pack size map or fracture. IGN: Arlianth

Hi,
I am following your build in talisman. I am lvl 82 and have 11K tooltip dps with gmp (without any buffs) (3.9k HP). I am using volaxic and tabula. I see you have like 24k dps, I don't know how to boost it further, the tree, and gear look pretty optimized. Below is my tree and gear: Tree ===== Gear ====

Jewels (self crafted, might craft better later) ======

" 35,000 DPS is with all charges and ice golem so you're doing more than fine and you itemized the affixes on your gear very well. With wrath/HoI/golem and no charges I have 15,000 dps on a 5 link and 17800 dps with a 6 link - with charges its 27000,35000. when you say w/o buffs is that w/o auras or w/o charges or w/o both? Your jewels could use a bit of work: You need to buy 8 bow attack speed and 12 projectile damage jewels. They usually only cost 1 or 2 chaos and will immensely boost damage, try to get additional good affixes such as resists or lightning type affixes. 40% of my damage is from jewels. Frenzy charges are absolutely crucial to this build and you should get those the following levels. Ya, I've got 11K with aura and golem, without any frenzy, power charges and blood rage. I'll now be grabbing the frenzy charges following lvls, that was the plan, I've got everything else. I will get one more jewel socket, thx. for the jewels advice, I will buy better jewels, guess that'll buff it more.
BTW, thanks for the amazing build, even with my current dps, I am shredding stuff in T7-T8 maps, and thanks to king of the hill passive nothing comes close :). Enjoying this build so much, the best build I've played so far :). |

" after looking at your gear, your clear speed, and double checking mine, it seems i'm doing SO MUCH things wrong, especially in the crit department, i had the idea this was MAINLY a crit build, and thus i went out of my way to try and get as much as i could on my gear, loosing a lot in the process, what i've come to realise is the importance of jewels and flat numbers ( multipliers quite literally seem like shit now). so i guess my questions now are about the jewels, how do you feel about the importance of AS especilly in jewels? i see you one shot most of those packs in the video, besides the tooltip dps, how much "better" is it compared to say a " +chaos damage and + projectile damage" jewel? and in that subject, how big is the cold damage in this build with gear like yours? man i just feel i have so many questions but i don't wanna bombard you with hundreds of them, i just feel so weak compared to you. edit: how do you feel about blast rain vs tornado and do you think i should optimize my gear so that i can run thunderfists and or the rigwald's quills? should i switch lp on LA to gmp? here's how it looks atm: 3.6k hp 4.8k tooltip dps LA with LMP and both HoI and Wrath on
Spoiler
edit2: tried to look jewels like yours, they seem to be rather expensive. also, how do you replenish your hp and mana? can you lnk your flasks? Last edited by Radgris#0192 on Dec 28, 2015, 1:16:42 AM

It's not something you will know after 10 days with the build so don't feel discouraged.
Jewels can get a bit complicated because there are so many affixes LA will benefit from but as a rule of thumb, get the following: * 6-8 attack speed with bows ( or 12-16% lightning damage if you use voltaxic) * 10-12 projectile damage * extra useful affixes include: resistances, global crit , global crit + accuracy, global crit multi, crit with lightning skill, multi with lightning skill, lightning damage, 3-5 attack speed, mana gained on attacks, and life The ideal jewel progression is as follow: Tier 3: 8 attack speed, 12 projectile damage (1 chaos) Tier 2: 8 attack speed, 12 projectile damage, 1 extra useful affix (3-5 chaos) Tier 1: 7% life, 12 projectile damage or 8 attack speed or lightning damage (voltaxic), 1 extra useful affix (30-100 chaos) Tier 0: 7% life, 12 projectile damage, 8 attack speed or 16 lightning damage (voltaxic), 1 extra useful affix (several exalts - excessively expensive) Jewel affix equivalency: 12% projectile is = 16% lightning damage (voltaxic) = 8% attack speed = 10 crit multi = 18 crit chance 1 affix = 15 int = 30 resist = 7% life = 12% projectile = 8% attack speed = 16% lightning (voltaxic) Gear affix equivalency: 28% WED = 40 flat ele = 26% projectile damage = 1 affix = 50 int = 45 resist = 50 life ( roughly equal to 7% life ) = 7% attack speed = 42 WED = 70 flat ele What this all means is that you should prioritize 50 int, life, WED, flat ele and resists on gear and resists, projectile damage, attack speed on jewels - and later life but for reasons explained prior, life is very expensive on jewels " I think blast rain is a superior single target which is all I use it for but tornado shot is not far behind. It is totally personal preference. Keep in mind tornado shot will benefit from quills where as blast rain does not. I really enjoy quills even though the damage numbers will be much lower than a rare glove + quiver combination but I know many players can not accept the idea that a lower dps number will clear as fast or faster. I would its better if you're on a budget and overall better if you can somehow get a quill with + 1 arrows. In your case I would stick with 2 rares since both your glove and quiver are well itemized. What you can do is remove life gain on hit for added light which will be a significant boost or crim damage which will also help you proc curse on hit + assassin's mark. You also have one of the lowest possible voltaxic rolls possible. I would throw a divine on it but rng is fickle. You can also swap lmp for GMP since this will help clear but again lower your paper tooltip. " There are dozens of them with either unlisted prices or 1-2c. http://poe.trade/search/nitasinoasaito You get all your life and mana leech near the duelist attack damage leech cluster. hey thanks a lot dude for the help, i managed to pull this together:
Spoiler
with auras golem and blood rage i have 12k blast rain and 7k Lighting arrow on a gmp, and that's considering my added lightning in LA and my conc effect in BR are both lvl 1 the reason i linked 3 gloves is because i managed to get my resist out of the way entirely in that regard and i'm still making up my mind on what i should get on the second ring, thanks a lot again. edit: jesus fucking christ my clearspeed went to the heavens and crashed the earth, i am next to insta-killing everything in a 3 man party on a tier 10 map.
