Really should not be 2 sentences. That's just one example, the whole thing is rife with similar missteps.
If you want to nitpick, it should say 'had ever seen', not has. But who the hell cares?

Do you read books? It's perfectly legitimate to use that structure to enforce a longer pause than a dash would imply.
Yes, it can be acceptable. But they used that structure 3 times in 6 sentences. Emphasizing every other sentence not only loses its impact but it reads choppy. It would be. Like reading. This.
