What Happens When the Domination and Nemesis Leagues End?

That is exactly 27.6% and a third represents 33.3%
Hardly? I'd say it is there already. Most of them new players that started in domination league because it was the default choice (made by ggg, mind you, it was freshly changed from standard league) will not be restarting in new temp league but instead will stay in standard, growing that playerbase. I'd be willing to bet that standard population will grow but we will see about that.

Maybe. We'll see!

Everybody knows that standard league has the most stable and decent trade rates.
The economy is shit and made even shittier only because of developer's dickish moves like legacy items (uniques, rares, gems), questionable orbs like kalandra mirror, eternal orb, etc

Standard has the most stable currency exchange rates. When you actually try to buy something besides currency, good fucking luck. Top end (price wise) items in Nem/Dom are uniques like shav's, which can run around 60ex. There are yellows in standard that people charge that much for a mirror fee, nevermind trying to actually buy the base item.
What people seem to forget: IIQ does not only make you "rich". Far from it, you can't get rich anymore in standard because the economy is set, there is no way to trade medium items, just the ultyrhighend stuff. So you won't get rich by trading in standard.

But: If you start a new character as a new player (or if your say lvl 65 char from Domination where you started 2 months ago falls back to standard) maybe you don't want to stop playing that char. And then you want to upgrade your gear either by finding a good item (or a 5l or some) and rolling it, or by buyinig a high ilvl white. And then you need alchs and scourings and chaos and jewellers and fusings to roll it.
All those orbs are way easier optained via IIQ. IIQ now just saves you time to play the game. It helps tremendously.

Remember folks: There are people, and they are not in this forum, who play the game for 5 hours a week. Because they have kids, a job and other hobbies. Those people contribute to the game as well. You don't want to frustrate those people either. And they need a way to find gear and orbs (to use, not to buy shit) for themselves to progress at some point. Try doing that in standard without IIQ, good luck!

If QQQ wants IIQ gone (which I can understand), they need to get rid of all of it. Gem, Uniques, Items, all of it. Hell, remove IIR too while you are at it. But: Then you have to adjust the droprates. You HAVE to. Because otherwise you would low down every new players itemprogression to a grinding halt.

The game has to attract new players. If the itemisation sucks, new players will leave faster than you can scream: "Wait, we have so many nice features in endgame!"

Oh, and to all the "Just play in the new leagues and don't play dumpster standard.":
I invested a lot of my time into my standard characters. I don't talk about orbs, because they are a kind of time equivalent, it's just time for me. I want to keep playing these characters. They are geared, teched out, have a good kill speed and fun mechanics. Why the f**k should I let them rot and start progression again and again?

But if you are a player who just wants to play the game with some good, not insane items, it is very easy now to get a decent 5l in standard for cheap to have a decent character. Not 100%, but 85-90% of whats possible. That is enough for people like me or my friends. And with IIQ, we actauly sometimes find stuff to use on one of our chars. Not so much in Domination, droprates there are atrocious.

Item quantity will be revisited in 1.1.0
We are highly likely to prevent the Item Quantity support gem from dropping in 1.1.0 and to prevent the Item Quantity mod from spawning on magic or rare items.
Item Quantity will continue to exist on Unique items, but we may review its magnitude.

Old mods and items will not be removed or changed for players who currently have them.

What is not clear is if existing Item Quantity support gems will be removed also or this patch will introduce a new legacy type: legacy skill gems.
Please clarify this.

Last time I checked non-legacy shavs ran for 15-20 ex on standard if they really cost 60 on the new leagues that just further confirms standard has the best economy. Exalts are also much cheaper to buy with lower currency on standard so it seems to me that is a win on all sides.
Keep PoE2 Difficult.

IIR still exists, and if they're removing IIQ there's a good chance that they're adjusting drops rates as well (which would effect standard too!)

I disagree when you say that Dom/Nem droprates are particularly low. On a decent roll map my screen is already full of items. When I do that same type of map in standard with my IIR/IIQ guy it gets stupid with how many items drop. Is that a bad thing? Not really. But not having that experience in a new league isn't going to ruin my day.

Everyone seems to bring up new players: new players aren't playing standard. If a character gets moved to standard after a 4 month league, they aren't a new player anymore. The biggest group to worry about tbqh are the people that start playing during the downtime between leagues.

There are people to start from scratch multiple times a day. It's how races work! I dont get why you'd endlessly farm gear on a character that can already clear everything in the game, and am looking forward to the new leagues as a good opportunity to test new builds.

This is because there is a proliferation of uniques in Standard which doesn't exist in the 4 month leagues. Notice how I didn't compare shav's to shav's, I compared top-end items to top-end items. Yes, some items are cheaper in standard. You forget that currency is harder to get in standard for a new player, IIR/IIQ aside, since the items they find that they might be able to sell are worth less because of this same proliferation.

Yes. People really play standard. Actually some people, like myself, only play leagues out of boredom and to challenge themselves with a fresh start.

This is exactly the point of leagues? Playing in standard continuously gets boring, and a fresh start can be fun!
